How do you keep foundation looking good all day?

I see all these women with perfect foundation all day! Whereas mine starts off looking great but by the end of the day its gone all dry and patchy and looks nothing like it did when I first put it on! I do have combination skin sometimes bit dry and I try everything to combat this but I think I am naturally predisposed to it.. I was on estee lauder double wear which was ok, bit patchy but I found it broke me out in spots..now I use Mac liquid studio fix but I've tried everything from Chanel to armani to rimmel!!

What are your tips to keep foundation looking good all day???!! Do these women with flawless faces just constantly reapply????

i would love to know this too :)

OK - here goes my limited knowledge!!

There are different types of foundation which suit different skin types. You have liquid, cream, powder, mousse, mineral, cream to powder etc. Some will help keep the skin from drying out too much and 'flaking' away the foundation, others will aid in the absorption of excess oil.

They will all have different properties and can also vary between manufacturers.

How you prepare your skin can also have an effect too. Exfoliated and moisturised skin will 'hold' foundation better.

You can also buy specialist primers which can also help the foundation to stay longer too.

The weather will effect it, if its a hot day and you are perspiring more it will make you make up slip.

A good company will match your foundation to your skin type, will show you how to apply in for maximum staying power and will also offer a return and replace system if you find that it's not right for you. I know that MAC will offer you this service but I'm sure that there are others out there which will provide similar services.

So once you have that sorted(!!!) a good tip would be to secure your foundation with a light cover of powder, and sometimes this will need to be touched up during the day.

Oh, and once your make up is on - don't touch it!!!:)

does a spray spritz with water...still work, as in it sets the make up?????

Hi
I had all the same problems as you And tried the L'oreal infallible 16 hrs continuous
perfecting foundation ,
it says on the pump dispenser ; fights the signs of make up melt down it also says anti transfer +anti mask effect, hides blemishes, stops shine, prevents rub off, combats signs of tiredness, fights signs of humidity, gives a soft supple texture. (shake before use)
I have med /pale skin so I chose the Golden Sand which is like a nice biscuit beige.

(I also tried the golden beige but this was a bit too golden looking for me)

I have never believed any thing could surpass my old max factor pan stick in nouveau beige,
but one evening I tried this (It was my daughters) I went out for dinner and a hot disco afterwards, I could not believe that when I got home that evening it looked as though I had just put it on , It was as fresh as a daisy and it covered my dark circles and imperfections like a dream, (and I'm no spring chicken) my face gets really hot and sweats sometimes ,
It glided on like silk, you don't need a lot and it sure never budged ,
I am not too sure what it contains as It actually isn't listed on the back of the make up. I applied my favourite light moisturiser underneath because I have dry skin.

You would have to try this make up to believe what it is like,
(I think they also have a concealer to go with it too)
has anyone else tried this?
I tell you guys it knocks years off you'll love it:hug:

I tried l'oreal infallible doesnt work for me!

Do you apply any moisturiser before your foundation?
It's best apply a layer of your usual moisturiser, but make sure you don't take it over the eyes. Allow it to be fully absorbed before you then apply your foundation.

How often do you exfoliate?
If you suffer from dry patches it may be that your skin care routine/products are not suitable for your skin type.

Sometimes it's not just the make up but the canvas it's being applied to.

As has been said by previous geeks, your prep (efo, correct moisturiser- not a heavy cream one) and the correct choice of foundation (cream, mineral etc) will have a huge impact as to its lasting effect.

Hi
there was a thread about
Lily Lolo Cosmetics on here if you search it you will get some info about it it
It looked really good and you can order sample sizes

it is a mineral based make up (I think)
I'm going to get some soon,
just waiting for my eye shadow colour to stock up again
it is so worth looking at the colors are so gorgeous
sorry about the bold writing cant seem to get it off:hug:

Hi

Always moisurise before but leave for a few mins to absorb before applying foundation. I personally do not like the foundations that last for certain amounts of time as they the liquid feels very plasticy and you really have to apply it quite quick....

As previously said a mineral makeup will stay all day - I use Bare Escentuals and it doenst budge till I remove it. It is the best thing I ever found, especially the mineral veil which will seal evryhting underneath and also add a highlighting effect. FAB!!!
