French Flame tips or similar where smile lines are a diff shape (hope am makin sense)... any advice on how these are applied ??

Thanks in advance

xx

I've experimented with french tips in different shapes, flame, chevron, lace etc. They are okay, you have to hold them on a little longer than normal french tips.

To be honest though, the flame tips are the only ones I don't like! once they are on i've had more than a few comments that they look like snapped or broken tips. They really do look odd. Sorry! If you are going to get some, don't buy loads, in case you don't like them either lol

hey thanks, jus wondered when where to place them (further up or down nail plate) when glueing them down... lol i havnt bought any yet... what about the other ones where the hearts are cut out till half way down the length ??

When I first used the star and heart cut out ones a few years ago I made a few mistakes. I first put them far enough down the nail that the cutout bits were on the nail bed. They looked ugly, and had really bad staying power. I then tried putting them further up, so the cutouts were off from the free edge, if that makes sense, and when I went to do the clear overlay, it seeped through, and when the acrylic dried, there were bumps underneath the tip. They were horrible.

I then, quite successfuly, decided to do it with a form. Apply your tip, as you would a normal french tip, so that the nails are balanced, and neat. Then you pop a form underneath the tip and fix in place, so that the form is flush with the tip. Place just a couple of forms at a time, like you would when sculpting nails so they dont slip out of place. Then do your overlay on the whole nail. Then voila! remove the form when the acrylic is ready to file, and you have no seepage under the cutouts, or bumps. Hope that helps hun, hope I explained myself properly, and thats what you meant!
