gel + tan

does self tan have a bad effect on gel nails? the problem was on a new set, the gel stated lifting off the free edge at the corners. there was some light staining of the whole surface and dark patches under the lifted areas. i used some new tips which i have never used before, so i'm trying to work out whether its the tips or the tan. never had any problems with my gel aplication before, so it figures that it must be one of these 2 factors causing the trouble.

I may be wrong with saying this but i'm sure i've read it before on other threads, that using a self tan or even some other lotions can actually stain Gel or L&P. Even some bubble baths can cause them to go a funny sort of colour.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I think you need to protect the nails with something, like vaseline or cuticle cream. Check with your trainer.
