I am still trying to develop my business here in France, I am still in the early stages of only doing 1-2 clients a week but this last 2 weeks I havent done a single set, i have had other things to deal with other than just concentrating on my business of hair, nails and make up but so that explains why I haven't advertised at all yet, anyway I did a lady today that I really wanted to impress but it took me 3.5 hours with a tiny bit of nail art (incased acrylic flower on 2 fingers!) she loved the result but I found that nothing was going easy, room too hot so acrylic dried too quick, my smile lines were not even, the form was too square and the c curve not consistant.
I absolutly love creating nails and think that I have found my calling, but today I feel like where have all my abilities gone, after all that my question is how do you deal with times like these, how do you get consistancy with your work and please tell me it will all be alright in the end!!:Scared:

Well we all have appointments like this from time to time when nothing seems to go smoothly ... you just have to grin and bear and get through it as there is nothing else you can do.. As a pro and a perfectionist you will rise above it when it happens. It feels uncomfortable but doesn't last. x

Thank you Gigi for your kind words.
However I have realised something else now which i cannot belive i have done, I prep'd and scrub freshed thoroughly BUT I have forgotten to take off the shine and I didn't use nail fresh, OMG I think I need to flippin get a grip. this client owns our salon supplies shop and is an excellent contact why oh why did I have to do it to her!!!!!!! Think I'll go and eat one of the kids easter eggs and pray! :Scared:

Living in France...*sigh*.....and the Périgord...so historic *triple sigh*... Oh for a glass of Monbazillac....

Okay. On topic. :D
Frenchy, I'm in a similar boat to you in that I've recently returned to industry and am developing a client base too.

You sound really stressed. And when we're stressed, our heads tend to fly out the window and we start forgetting what we consider the little things. Then the self criticism starts and builds up which only leads to more stress...:Scared:

after all that my question is how do you deal with times like these, how do you get consistancy with your work and please tell me it will all be alright in the end!!

How I deal with times like this is to step back and chill. I then look at what went wrong and take steps to make them right and above all, I remember that getting things right does not happen overnight (you've got to be kind to yourself). But, if you practise, they will happen. Consistency comes with planning, regularity and perseverance. And yes, everything will be alright in the end.

You also sound distracted and very busy.

One thing I have found in the building up of my business is that I cannot be distracted. So if there are other things going on in your life, you need to deal with them in a manner that allows you equal time to spend on your business. For example, I was working a full-time job in another industry. I knew that if I was going to build a business and retain my sanity I would have to spend time on this and so I cut back on my full-time job. I also made sure I took some time for myself to relax and to train. And I insist on one day a week completely free of work as a minimum. Life is still hectic but it's manageable and allows me to remain focused....which is half the battle when you're starting out.

Keep going - and keep us posted with your adventure! :D

I'm sure the nails will be absolutely fine even without removing the shine ... If you Scrub Freshed really well it will have done the job. Don't worry. Often I only use Scrub Fresh on a regular client.

Maybe I'm assuming incorrectly here but it sounds like you are concentrating on enhanced nails only? Not everyone wants that so why not offer natural nail services also. When you get to know your specific market better this may form the majority of your nail services. A very nice business can be created from manicures and pedicures and this maybe what your area wants right now and then there will be plenty of opportunities to appropriately advise clients towards enhancements.

Good luck with it all
