Hi everyone,
Just done a rebalance and its taken 3 hours  Looking back over my 3 hours I think its mosty down to my initial filing. I used a new 180 grit file but it barely seemed to skim the surface. I was so concerned about putting too much pressure on the nail or burning the client although I have never done this before. I don't know if it is because I have changed my make of files? I have stopped buying Creative files and changed to a local supplier. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Or do you have any tips on cutting down this part of the rebalance. I was really pleased with how the nails lasted and they were not too thick so can't blame my first set on the amount of time it took either!

Please help because I'm becoming so dispondant about my timings i'm beginning to dread rebalances!

Any particular reason you changed your brand of files? Did you have a problem before now?

How long was it taking for rebalance prior to changing your files?

Cheaper doesn't always mean you'll save money as, if it's adding to your service time, it's no doubt costing you more in time than the difference in price (pennies as compared to your time) of a more efficiant file!

You also need to go over your filing techniques- you may be working harder instead of smarter- go do a search on filing techniques in the tutorials, and also double check your application- sometimes we need to look from the outside in to figure out where we are going wrong. :)

I have been using CND files for years, and the one time I used another techs in a pinch, it was not NEAR as effective- so investing in quality abrasives is a necessity, and part of my budget.

I changed my files during the summer Creative had problems with supplys here. From that point on I think it was just purly down to ease that I carried on buying the other files. :o I think that was a mistake now, looking back. Also as I have been doing it for nearly three years I think I have given myself bad habits? Think I need to go back to basics and have all the grits explained again. Is it the grit that effects the rebalance most or the technique?

Hi hun

I was having problems with my rebalances and a couple of geeks advised me to use 100 and 180 grit files and another showed me how to file them down and its made all the difference. I now smile my way threw rather than dreading them!

Hi i use either 150 or 180 grit to debulk and 240 to file sidewalls an free edge x

I KNEW if I said to do a search you would come up with the links lol! YAY! I am too lazy too look them up LOL!!! ;) xoxo

 Thanks guys, think I'll have to do a bit of reading/practice over the weekend! And have ordered some CND files, the dearest may turn out to be the cheapest time wise! Any other hints or tips are greatly apreciated!

Ok guys, I have had a look at the tutorials, but have just realised, i've ordered Hot Shot files, are these the correct ones? I've completely forgotten from my course as I have been using the other files for so long!

hugely embarassed :o just had another look at my files, one sticker says 100/180 and the other says 240/240. Looks like they were wrongly packaged, now i'm thinking thats why it took me twice the normal time.....
Thank you so much for all you help though guys! Have gone back to ordering Creative now :)
