I've been playing at dong hair extensions on myself (would never touch anyone else!) I just wondered if anyone knew of a hair extension training course? Thanks everyone x

Capital do Balmain hair extension courses. I havent done the course myself, but keep telling myself that one day I will. I think its around £250 but that includes the kit as well. Apparently its very profitable. You do have to be a qualified hairdresser though to get on the course, because you have got to cut and style the extensions.

Balmain micro-bonds are a dream! But do not go near the hair, their guarantee stands for nothing, and you will not get refunded if you have a bad experience with their hair.

As you're not wanting to do anyone else's hair, it may be useful looking for a local extensionist who would be willing to show you the ropes (don't know how willing they'd be, obviously you'd have to make it worth their while!) and then buy a kit separately? I don't know how available hair extension guns etc are, as I'm used to buying them professionally, but what with ebay and the like I imagine anything's available!

Don't try and do your own with no knowledge/proper equipment though, as you could absolutely ruin your own hair, and end up having to purchase some nice hats whilst you're waiting for it all to grow back!!

Good luck :green:

Thank you for your help everyone! x

Thats fab, thank you!

:cry: hi i was trained in hair extenstions with balmain:rolleyes: i payed £275 for the kit :smack: and £75 for the course check with your local cash&carrys that supply balmain.

Balmain Extensions - 100% Human Hair Extensions
tele 0800-781-0936

let me know how you get on :eek:

I Think the Balmain training is excellent I could not fault it ,
and the trainer was the best.

But the hair is another story , ( the single strand hair extensions )
after the experiences we had with it, personally I would not touch it .
but I have been told that the double hair is ok :green:
and the bonds are of excellent quality also .

Yes the guarantee sounds good, but they never honored any of our clients complaints.

Hi
If you check the internet there are lots of reputable companies who will offer you training just make sure you do your homework and ask all the right questions.

I trained with additional lengths..........i dont know how other companies train but i found this brilliant....was a day course in middlesborough and its one on one........i thought she was brilliant.

Does anyone know of courses being run in or around the Gloucestershire area for eyebrow threading?????
Thanks

Sorry Louiser  but this is my pet hate

A nail tech should do manicure before progressing onto enhancements, yet a hair extensionist needs no knowlegdge of hair whatsoever

Again just my opinion but it bloody stinks

Oo that feels better  xx

Sallys hair and beauty do courses for £75, i think thats balmaine

A company called Additional Lengths provide brillient hair extensions and I think they might have training too. The hair is good to work with and alot cheaper than Balmain, with a good customer service team.

Hi, We were trained in salon by Racoon International, and they are available to contact should we experience any problems in the future, we also got advertising literature to display in salon as part of training package

yes xniceyloux its me lol!! couldnt believe my eyes at the state of a new clients hair i had to put right recently,it was the worst set of fusion extensions ive ever seen, the client was in tears after this person had installed them and rang me a few hours later to see if i could do anything to put them right! the extensionist had apparently trained at one of the dodgy training places i mentioned before without doing any other hairdressing training before and to put it bluntly a blind one armed epileptic could have done a better job.why the company thought she was trained proficiently enough to receive a certificate is beyond me!! people like her give the freelance professionals a bad name!

Steer well away from Eloquent Hair.....thats all Im saying!!!

Hi, I have just done a course with Eloquent hair and was not very happy at all im just wondering what was your experience with her??

Thanks.....:)

Personally I agree with Becki, hair is a craft, a proffession, a constant art to work at and progress. I have been hairdressing for 18 years and it makes me mad when people think they can just do something and make it look as if any one can do it.
Hair extensions is a specialised field, you cannot learn everything you need to on a one day course, someone, anyone can go on a course for a few hours and get a certificate letting them go out in public doing hair extetions, it makes degredation of the proffesion.
I also personally think that hair extentions dont need to be cut in properly, the also have to be razored. Sorry to moan but I am seething.
As you can see from some of the pictures on site, hair need tp be properly sectioned, clean sections, not too much tension etc etc, you can ireprably damage the hair, scalp and follicles. Non proffessionals should not be able to go on courses, I hope they do check certification.
