Ok, so here goes...

I am currently the only person in my State doing Minx, and I get calls from all over. I have my own little (and I mean little) space that I rent and it's just me, so I can't accomodate a lot of people in my shop. So, I get a call this morning from a woman who wants me to come do a minx party at her house for her and 6 of her friends. I haven't done one of these yet, so I don't know what I am supposed to charge. It will take me about an hour to drive to them. Should I charge each person a little more to compensate for gas and travel time, or not? Or a fee for coming to them? Should I do anything special for the hostess? I normally charge $30 for the Minx manicure and $40 for the Minx pedicure. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

It would depend on how many at the part you are doing and how much you are going to earn. I would have explained any extra charges at the time of the booking. I think it is reasonable to charge extra for going to them, particularly if you are not normally mobile and it will mean a lot more bother for you than it would in the comfort of your own salon. Then there is the time for the travelling and the travel costs.

When doing goup parties, it is generally the trend that the host gest a free treatment.

I think it is reasonable for you to telephone the host and explain that there will be an extra cost (enough to cover your time and petrol), particularly since in is in such demand and you are the only person doing it in your area.

To accommodate as many at the party, I would only do mini manicures and mini pedicures with the minx.

Good luck!

Hi,

I would charge accordingly

Set a price for your travel and time
Set a price per treatment/s - I would charge a little less then normal, and conduct a mini version of the service.

Your guests may want their hands as well as their feet done, so you need to be able to get through them all. By coducting mini versions of the service, you should be able to do this, without having to spend so much time on each guest, while others are waiting.

The host usually will get something as an insentive for having the party. A free service, or a goodie bag for her only. You could include discounts off her next service, mini hand creams, fancy files, nail polish etc.

Make sure that you take plenty of business cards with you and pricelists of all the services you offer! Good luck and mostly, have fun!

Thank you ladies, for your advice.

I haven't yet quoted her a price, she mainly called to see if I do them, and I told her I did, but that I didn't keep all the designs in stock, so she should figure out which designs she and her friends will want, and if I don't have them, I will order them and then we can book her party.

So that's what we're doing, and it gives me time to get a price together! :)

But thank you again for all the great advice!
