Hey everyone, in the last two weeks i have done 5 sets of Gel nails mobile, and all perfect excpet one of my clients had hers done last weds and a tiny bit of gel cracked off on friday so i went round and repaired it. However now, she's been in contact with me again and said on one of her nails over half the Gel had literally peeled off, leaving only the tip. as a result this tip has now come off, and i have now arranged to go round monday night to sort them out, i feel i have to offer this for free, as i dnt understand why this has happened, the other 4 clients nails are absolutely perfect and have been on for almost two weeks!!

Any ideas why this has happened and what shall i do to correct it??? am i best taking whole set off n re-doing them for free??? please help me girlies im getting reli down worrying bout it!!!! xxx P.s the gel system i used was Salon System xxx

Hi, and welcome.

Are the other nails still in tact? If they are, just concentrate on the one that's the problem.

It normally means that the gel wasn't adhered properly to the nail plate which could be down to prep or even an oily nail plate.
I don't know what the application procedures are with salon system, but i use NSI and the first layer is always really thin so that it has a good grip of the nail plate before you start building. I'd buff off and start again - just be extra careful when prepping and dehydrate just before you put the gel on and maybe try the application technique i've mentioned and hopefully all will be ok. HTH's

Hi, if the other clients are fine and its just this 1 client then it could be her picking...gel can crack and chip if knocked and banged...but to peel requires some help....to be honest i hate the term "peeling gel"...i have never yet used a gel other than Bio Sculpture (very very flexible gel) that can actually "peel".. peeling and chipping are 2 very different things IMO.

Thankyou maggie, i will try your suggestion, as far as i know it is just tht nail with the problem!! I will buff it off and re-apply gel, and keep my fingers crossed its doesnt happen again!!!! xxx

Thanks angie, thts what i was wondering if maybe she had been picking at them. do you think im doing right thing just repairing it then?? Dnt think i should re-do full set for free??? xxx

Hey ladies, my client has now replied and wants me to go round and remove whole set and replace with acrylic at 6pm tonight!! Should i charge her somethin for this?/ i feel like i have to offer this for free!!!! xxx

YES certainly do charge her!! If it was only 1 nail that the gel had "peeled" off and the one that cracked, to which you offered to re do both. That was your offer which is a very fair one. I'd look at the nail first to see if it did just peel off or it was helped off just for your certainty.

I certainly would charge full price plus a soak off price if this is what she wants doing. Other wise she can take your original offer of replacing the nail FOC as there is nothing wrong with any of the other nails there is no need to soak off and re do all. It was only 1 nail not the whole set.

I would ring her first and discuss it with her as i definetley would not do it free of charge. If she still wants to have a set of acrylic and argues her side about it, i'd offer to do the soak off for free but charge her for the new set still as you have offered to put it right its her choice if she decides not to take you up on this.
