Hi fellow Geeks,

I wonder if you can help me?

Now that Bio are advocating soak off every time instead of infilling, where does this leave you if you have done Sculptures using Free Edge Gel?

Are you aiming to soak the Sculptures off EVERY time? Surely not?!

Or when soaking off, do you just remove the gel that's on top of the Sculpt?

I have noticed that Free Edge Gel seems remarkably hard to soak off, so I'm wondering if I shouldn't even be trying...

Thanks
Helen

I am just learning Bio and I am wondering about this also. Seems like a lot of un-necessary work to redo extensions every 3 weeks. I'm assuming that if you dont redo them though, the free edge gel will grow out and the stress points will become weak and break... hmmm dilema?

PS: My extensions are not working (I posted a thread about it), do you use tips or forms? How long do they last?

I also use sculpting gel, is that the problem? should I switch to free edge gel?

I don't soak sculpts each time - whats the point? Let the natural nail grow out under before removing and then replace with an overlay.

In fact I don't soak off every time anyway. Probably about every 2nd or 3rd time unles changing a dark colour for light.

So you fill?

To fill with these do you simply file off the S-gel, do your fill and re-apply?
It seems simply I've just never done one. Only started Bio's 2 weeks ago :o

You just infill the way you would with any system.

I just aske in your other post....but did you actually train with Bio? I think a lot of your problems sound to me like you've just been trained by someone else who isn't really training properly, and has a lot of outdated knowledge.

when i did my bio training we were shown infilling.
how long have they been recomending that you soak off every time ?

Just to respond to the questions already asked -I have trained with Biosculpture and I sculpt with forms & Free Edge Gel. Interestingly, the use of Sculpting Gel was hardly mentioned during my training, though I have read about it in my manual - not sure if they now cover its use on the Advanced Gel course.

I was taught to infill, and am happy to do that. However, if you read the Social Group for Biosculpture Geeks, it seems a lot of people have now been told to soak off every time, which is what made me wonder about the Sculptures... Also, if you have a client who likes to change their colour often, or go from colour to french, then it tends to suggest that more frequent soak offs may be required.

Even with the training I did, they told me that you should infill once, then soak off every other time, so I still think that's potentially a lot of re-doing sculptures (though I do appreciate that they would have grown out a lot by the soak off time, so you may not need to sculpt as much the 2nd time round).

As I say, because the Free Edge Gel seems so difficult to soak off, I'm wondering if I should just be aiming to soak off any overlay that's on top of it, rather than the whole lot.

Sorry Helbels....my questions and comments on training in my second post were to Spakitten, who doesn't appear to know the up to date Bio training, and asked about her sculpts not lasting, both here and in another thread. I know you have trained with Bio in Fleet.

On the subject of soaking off and infilling.....I believe the best idea is to use common sense. As Bio have been infilling for twenty years I can't see that continuing to do so on occasion is goign to be a problem. I soak off if changing colour, but infill at least oce if using the same.

I beleive the FE gel will ultimately replace sculpting gel.

I find FE gel can take a little longer to remove but I think thats poss down to the fact that there should be a higher apex to strengthen it. Try filing the apex down a little first and it should start to soak off no problems. I found it a little tough at first but doing this helped no end with me.

Hi Lyndsay

Thanks for the tip about filing the apex - will give that a whirl.

Fortunately I haven't yet had to do a full set of sculptures on someone with very short nails - dread to think how long that would take! Have so far only had to do 3 or 4 on people who have broken a few nails.

I just think if I had to do a full set of sculpts it would make my heart sink to have to soak them all off and start all over again 4 weeks later. Maybe that's my inexperience showing though!!

I love the free edge gel, I find it very easy to work with and very hard wearing. I still need to work on my nail shaping though, and suspect I'm still applying it thicker than I need to as I often have to do a lot of filing to get a decent shaped nail afterwards.

Since about the begining of the year I think Susan, I first found out about it when I got FE gel.....but don't worry they'll change their minds again when they develop something new! Probably had an extra large batch of product remover to sell.

Just carry on with what you are doing if it works for you....which I know it does!

ha ha yes, or wanted to sell the gels a bit quicker.!

i'd love to know whats behind that advice though and why only some bio techs have been informed.
