I did 2 guinea pigs using my new Nouvatan last night (mother and daughter) I did mother with 8% and daughter with 16% (as she is in dance competitions and needs to be really dark - like unnaturally dark like the body builders). But, I spoke to the mam this morning and she said that the daughter is the same colour as her. Surely the 16% should have made her black?! I have booster drops that I will try on her when this tan has faded but I want it to be cost effective. I spoke to Dawn before I ordered the booster drops and she said that 5 drops would take it up 1%, so I was thinking of adding maybe 10 drops to 100ml to take it up to 18%, or do you think I will only need 5? Mother is going to mail me some pics later. So I will have a look. Mother did say that she couldnt stop looking at herself lol and daughter has yet to shower, which leads me to belive the daughter will be lighter again once showered. I am only charging £10 for the tans so still want it to be cost effective whilst getting the right look. I know Elisa, you have used 16% on Destiny but my model didnt get anywhere near the results you got. I dont want to charge anymore than £10 for the tans for the kids as I think it is enough to pay. Mother has said it would still be ok, she could just add a bit of instant tan on the day (but I really wanted to avoid this). any suggestions? I did think of double dipping her but then that would double the price lol

unfortunately skin will only absorb a certain amount of dha If your clients skin is capable of absorbing 16% Dha then she will go very dark, If her skin is only able to absorb 8% she she will only darken to that level
If you put to high a DHA on the wrong skin type it will also wear off very badly and snake skin
Its very similar to sunlight exposure you can put to bodys in the same sunlight for a period of time and get 2 completely different results one skin will burn and blister the other will go a lovely golden brown,
Increasing the percentage with booster drops in my opinion will not make your client any darker

thanks for replying Steve. (hope you had a fab time on holiday)
I dont really know what to do with this one. I have seen her going really dark with the creams etc, so I know she can go really dark. I dont know whether i should have went over her twice, if that would have made a difference. When I started applying the 8%, it was the same guide colour as the 16%, is this correct? I did double take the bottle to see if I had poured the 8% into the cup instead of the 16% but I am sure I did, but now doubting myself.

So are you saying that if I had of used the 8% on her, she would have went the same colour as when I sprayed the 16%? If this is the case, then why are there different percentages of DHA if you only go to one colour? I am a bit confused by this. At my training I was sprayed with 8% and went a lovely sunkissed colour and I have just been sprayed with 10% and I am definitley darker this time. It is all so confusing. Sorry to sound a bit dumb x

Hope this does not sound rude but did u give the bottle a good shake hun?
Basically what Steve is saying is that some folks can only absorb so much DHA so for example Client A can only absorb 8% so the 16% will not make her any darker, maybe orange or will wear off really badly. (This is usually on pale clients you would get this)
Where as Client B can absorb 16% DHA so will be way darker (this clients will either have a darker skin naturally or tan really well in the sun)
Have you tried any other soloutions? just some folk dont get on with some for some reason or another, eg Sienna is awful on me scaly skin ompalumpa! lol but looks great on others. hth xx

thanks for your reply. I cant remember if I shook the bottle. I dont think I did now I think about it. I know what you are saying about the absorbtion of DHA. I havent tried any others on the dancers I just thought she would be black this morning lol. I might see if I can pop round to see her to see for myself. ALthough Mother is saying she is darker than daughter. Mother has vitiligo and said that the tan even covered that, whcih I am surprised at. Daughter was really pale but has lovely skin that tans realy easily. Next step I think is to try with the booster drops, as I have to give it a go at least, and then I dont know what. Maybe try the LA disco sample that I got with the kit, but I am a bit reluctant to do this as I dont have as much confidence in this (especially when I am using it on kids) than I do with the Nouvatan. I know it certainly doesnt fade as well, so using 18% disco will probably fade even worse. I was reading on a an old googled thread that Tandare does an 18%. I am feeling a bit "hmph" about it and a bit disappointed that she didnt go the colour I wanted.

Also did she follow ure pre & post care advice? eg no shower gel with oil in etc xx

I have done tests in the past, i did one leg in 10% and one in 16% and i was very very dark with the 16% I have very dark olive skin
Dawn however is pale and both legs looked almost the same ?? as has been said on this forum so many many times some tans suit some and some tans dont
But the only way you can make a lilly skinned lady look like Naomi Cambell is to send them on holiday to the carribean for a fortnight, lol !!

Ha ha Steve, but that definitley would not be cost effective!? lol

Is the guide colour of all the solutions the same? I ask as Sarah mentioned about shaking the bottle. the guide colour was really pale and as I had not used the 16% before I wasnt sure how dark the guide colour is (On the previous solution I have used, the guide colour for the 10 & 12% is really really dark, compared to the 8%, that is why I had to do a double take to make sure I had poured the right solution in the cup)
