Hi all

I am still struggling with lifting on all my enhancements and I need your advice! Sometime when scraping the nail plate with the cuticle pusher, I end up shaving thin layers of nail plate off!!!! But I'm so anxious to clean the nail properly. I use NSI and do gels only. If I can just list what I do as my prep, maybe some other NSI users can see if I'm going wrong anywhere:

1. Apply cuti-clean and remove skin etc from nail plate with metal cuticle pusher.
2. Use purple sand turtle to remove shine.
3. Wipe nail thoroughly with nail pure plus.
4. Apply tip and blend.
5. Wipe nail again with nail pure plus.
6. Primer.
7. apply enhancement.

Where am I going wrong? Also, a lot of lifting occurs down the sidewalls but I'm making sure no gel is touching the skin.

Help!

I've just completed my L&P foundation with nsi but the prep is the same. I only apply cuti clean or vanish if client has a lot of non living tissue on th nail plate as this can add moisture to the nail. Make sure you remove it thoroughly after if you need to use it. Also, I remove the shine from the nail plate with the 180 endurance using it very gently. I wasn't tought to do this with the sand turtle.

If there's a lot of lifting down the side walls, try gently pinching the skin away from the nail plate down the sides so that you can get right upto the end of the nail plate when removing shine. If you dont', I think you might be leaving oil on the nail plate in this area. My daughter has had hers on now for four weeks and has one re-balance with virtually no lifting at all.

Have you checked your application? Amanda rainsford jones did several step by steps in Scratch Mag, I'm sure they're on the website.
I dont wanna go against your training but I would dehydrate the nail before de-shining to make sure the cuti-clean is off, I'd give them a good scrub/squeak as this left on the nail could cause lifting. Its been a long time since I was a NSI Tech so cant help you with application but there are loads on here who can

i use nsi gels and i use nsi vanish cuticle remover if i need to
push back cuticle and remove any on the nail then wipe with cleanse
using my black 180/240 file i gently remove the shine
i apply my tips and blend
then apply nail pure only to the natural nail
then apply nail pure plus only to the natural nail.
are you making sure that your bonder layer of gel is only thin because if its to thick it can cause problems.hths

Hi
Thanks for your replies. When I use the Cuti-clean, I just wipe the residue away with a dry lint wipe - I'll try cleaning it with a wipe which has cleanse on it instead. I'll also try using the 180 endurance file as well to remove shine, instead of the purple buffer and will make sure I get right down the side walls.
maybe my bonder layer is a little thick - I did try and put it on really thin but then after it had cured it looked patchy as though the gel had shrunk and not covered all the nail, so i try and put it on a little thicker now.
