Hi Geeks
Every year I stress myself out silly looking for somewhere nice to take the boys (16 and 9). We haven't got very far over the last few years because I didnt book a holiday!

Lots of people keep telling me that the Algarve area in Portugal are is nice.
Have you been on hols there?
Which hotel did you stay in?
What time of year did you go?

I need to stop reading all the negative holiday reviews on the net and just book a holiday.

I heard Agadir in Morrocco is nice too - I'm not good at booking hols at all!

We stayed in a 4 star in Albuferia, it's a nice place. Try alpharooms.com

I would recommend a four star as there are lots of lovely ones to choose from.

Vilamoura is nice too, very posh with a marina.

My sister owns a cafe/sandwich bar in the Oura Beach area of Albufeira, it's fab there. A beautiful beach, just outside of town but close enough for a bus ride in. It has it's own Strip full of restaurants, bars and shops.

Be aware Oura beach is at the bottom of a hill called Cardiac Hill, it's not a huge hill but quite steep. There are routes through back streets which are less steep, but the main hill can be a challenge for anyone who has walking problems. We're late thirties and skipped up it quite happily

We stayed in the Oura Beach Hotel, large pool, buffet restaurant if you want it, most rooms are self-catering with everything you could need should you wish to cook, and a supermarket just round the corner. A proper one full size chain supermarket, I think it's a SuperMercardo, but don't quote me.

Oura is a fab area for both kids and adults, Old Town Albufeira is 30 mins on a bus away and gives you all the authentic Portugal. Loads of places to see within easy reach, Villamoura, Guia, etc. Faro (airport) is about 40 mins away. Roads are good so no transfer problems.

Go for it - say hi to my sister for me

We stayed in Tavira, we rented a villa about 5 minutes outside of the town. A quiet little fishing and market town, lovely resteraunts, a few shops, there is an island off it called Isle de Tavira and a boat goes from 7 am till 10pm, beautiful beaches and a fab little cafe that serves wonderful calamari!!!

Its not too far from Lisbon, Id say about 35 mins. There is a waterpark about 10-15mins drive aswell, brill for the kids!

A friend of ours has a villa in Carvoeiro. Absolutely gorgeous place. I'd live there if I could.
