I am not yet qualified but am letting myself loose on my first guinea pig tonight! I plan to practice l&p on friends and family, charging £10 to cover costs and to make sure no one expects freebies in the future (after reading another thread on here about that problem) is this a reasonable price? both from mine and the clients point of veiw (if they or i arent happy with the finished nails i wont charge)

The point of my thread is that although i am far from proffessioinal i think i should still present myself as working in a proffessional way so that people see me in that way when i am qualified and charging full price. I am doing the essential nails course and it came with disposable table towels, 10 Table Towel Pack but am i right in thinking i will get through at least 3 per set which will work out expensive but i like them because they are thick and strong. The only thing i can think of for the time being is to place a normal towel on the table with sheets of kitchen towel placed over the toop to collect dust.

will this look proffessional and be effective??

(in the future i think ill buy a foam wedge and wipe clean table cover)

Thanks in advance and happy new year :)

I usually put a clean towel over my work station, folded in half. When i have done prepping and filing, i carefully fold it in half the other way to keep any dust in side and then place my kitchen towel thing and a lint free pad soaked in sanitiser to wipe my brush on, on top of the towel.

I have special towels i use just for my nail work and i can wash them on a nice hot wash and use them again. I think its a cheaper option than using lots of disposable towels. Also its nice a comfy for my customer..... my nail table is pretty chilly on top these days as it lives in the car alot!!

I use a foam wedge with a white towel over that for protection and then couch roll over this.I change the couch roll once I have finished with any filing to rid my station/desk of any dust.Couch roll can be bought from any wholesalers but we usually buy it from Sally's.

White kitchen roll would be sufficient at present but from a cost effective point of view you would probably be better off buying couch roll(0r they sell smaller sized desk roll)
:hug:Happy New Year to you too.

I do the same as Babs but I buy my couch roll from Salonserve who are so much cheaper but same quality.

I think you are being very sensible by starting as you mean to go on. This way you won't slip into any bad habits. Being professional as a mobile therapist is so much more difficult as you cannot always control your environment as you can at home or in a salon, you rely on the client as well. Do as much as you can and you will get on fine, some clients will expect this and others will be very pleasantly surprised!

One tip I will give you at this time of year always have a cardi handy, some people, especially during the daytime, skimp a bit on the heating and sitting still can become really cold!

Good luck! :)

Have you looked at Easydry? They sell disposable towels of different sizes and they also do disposable couch covers. As far as I know they send out free sample packs so it could be worth a try?:)
