Hi Guys.

I am new to all this and am not a nail expert! so am wandering if someone could help me. Ive been having my nails done for ages but have always just had a french finish with acrylic or pink and white gel and would like a change. I would really like to have black tips. Is this recognised and if so how is it done? is it like airbrush or gel or something.

Thanksss

Hi hun you can have them airbrushed or they can be done with black gel or black L&P i must admit i think black tips look lovely:green:

I know i love them, ive only ever seen one person with them the other day and i loved them! just am bored of french! what do you think is best? what gives a better effect and lasts longer? thanks much apreciated!!

I only do gel so thats all i can comment on ive just brought some black gel as i fancy some black tips myself your right french gets boring dont it?!?

If you have a look in the geeks gallery there are some fab pics with black tips:green:

I've done black tips with black gel - they looked great:)

I've bought cnd metro sin city black. I tried a black tip on my nail trainer the other day and I found the black got everywhere when I was tidying up the smile line. Seem to have allot of black pigment? in it. Shows the smudges. I obviously need allot more practice with the black! :)

I'm definitely going to have some next week as the metro sin city powder is gorgeous, with the holographic shimmer.

hi am in training at the mo but were using nsi an the acrylic glitter black is lovely on tips!!! i have pink glitter acrylic tips on at the mo as am the same as u at the mo an bored with the white tips!!!!

I luuurrve black tips, i either do black tips & black l&p or natural tips with black L&P depends if the client wants black at the back...if u get what i mean lol

I've got a set of black tips on at the moment and I love them.

What I did was put on the tips as far onto the free edge as I could, so that some of them were just glued on by the ears (I'd really short nails at that point), then put on Ezflow HD cover pink on to extend the nail bed up to the edge of the black, blending it down in zone 2 so I wouldn't have a line.

I then just cover it all with Creative clear, building up the apex with this. I've rebalanced a couple of times and they are looking great still. Because I used a cover pink, as my nail has grown out, you can't see where the free edge has now grown past the end of the nail bed. I'll be able to wear them for a bit longer, as the smile line isn't past the end of my finger yet (when it would start to look a bit silly!) I do have a bit of a multicoloured thing going on at the back, but it's not really too noticable yet.

HTH xxx

black tips with a sparkle are gorgeous !

Well I thought of putting a sparkly gel over them with some diamontes for the Event. At least I'll have bling nails!

Oh and meant to say the smile lines on the tips were too straight, so I cut them "smilier" with a pair of curved nail scissors. I tried filing them into shape, but although I got a good smile line, there was an awful lot of tiny raggy bits and as I kept taking them off I got to thinking that they would probably end up getting into the acrylic. I tried the scissors and it was even easier than filing, so just went with this. xx
