i was just wondering in which order you guys apply your gel when using a coverage gel? as i have never done this before
when i use gel i would normally use
radiant pink first as my bonder layer
then do my whites
then use builder clear to build my apex etc...
then apply my finishing layer.
how would i change this to compensate using a coverage gel?
thanks:)

Hiya .. this is what i do

bonder gel
cure
coverage gel
(i do mine in 3 thinner layers...curing after each layer and making it thin in zone 1 and 3 and thicker in zone 2)
POW
cure
clear gel over zones 2 and 1 only (this protects the white and ensures there is no lip where the POW has been applied)
cure
wipe
buff to shape
clean and remove dust
top gloss
cure
wipe

HTH x

yeah basically it depends on your coverage gel.. some are builders and some ain't...
but usually on your base gel, and usually in a few layers that you cure everytime. so that it really covers the nail plate/free edge, whereas if you apply it once and thick it may not be opaque enough.

I find if you want a full coverage (and IMO this should only ever be zone 2...full coverage in zone 3 makes the nail look like a stick on and too thick..unatural) it needs to be applied quite thick and this can cause heat spike...thats why i do mine in 3 layers....but again...i must stress....although its 3 layers, its still placed so the gel is thinner in zone 1 and 3..thicker in 2....the layers are NOT the same thickness for all zones.

A good way to do this is in beads...place a bead in zone 2....then drag a little of the gel from that bead to feather down to zone 3 and again to feather down to zone 1...leaving the bulk of the product in zone 2.....this gives you great coverage and the strength required.

it makes sense to do it like this.xx

This is why i love the EZ Flow Gel It gels, you have many different pinks, a translucent light pink, a slightly opaque french style pink and a coverage pink.

I just use a very thin layer to give the coverage when doing a CB, do my white, then i would build using the clear.

It is different depending on what system you use, but you just have to use what works for you. Hope you find what works for you hun.
