Hiya all, I need a little help in being pointed in the right direction. I am new to all this and I am currently doing the en acrylic course. I am interested in gaining more knowledge about nails, nail anatomy, hands, manicure etc and I have come across such a wide variety and haven't got a clue where to start. I know all you professional, experienced geeks on here will be able to give good advice rather than me go buying a half decent book and learning nothing from it.Any advice/pointers in the right direction for a total beginner would be appreciated

Thanks
Em x

Thanks for that. I had seen a previous thread about books a couple of weeks ago but cant remember which books had been mentioned :irked: Wheres the best place to buy the nail class book from by gigi? Like I said, I have come across so many but was unsure where to start.....There are a couple that I seem to come across more than others and those are
The Complete nail technician by marian newman

MANICURE,PEDICURE AND ADVANCED NAIL TECHNIQUES BY ELAINE ALMOND

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO MANICURE & PEDICURE BY LEIGH TOSELLI

Does anyone know if these are any good either as a starting point for me?

Thank you  x x

I don't know about the ones you mentioned, but I second the suggestion of Gigi's 'nailclass'. And you can buy it here on the Geek site! If you do a search, you should be able to find the link. Here it is. mundo

I also HIGHLY recommend Doug Schoon's Nail Structure and Product Chemistry. This book should be every nail tech's BIBLE. :D

You can buy it from mundo
Marian Newman's book The complete Nail Technician as well is a must.

MANICURE,PEDICURE AND ADVANCED NAIL TECHNIQUES BY ELAINE ALMOND

I have used this book and it is pretty good, especially for theory work.

I am looking into buying 'nailclass' by GiGi though

Thanks for all your advice

I'm off to go buy nail class by gigi for the moment. Then some of the others that have been mentioned at a later date. Any other books that geeks find are essential or are definately worth a mention then let me know :)
