Hi

I'm doing a presentation on sensitive skin, I have most of it sorted, but I wonder if anyone can expand on ingredients to avoid in salon products? It's the products for the actual salon treatment, eg facial.

I know these are ingredients to avoid: fragrances, D and C colors, preservatives, and Lanolin, but are there any others?

I'm having a real hard time finding anything on the net other than over the counter products. I really need salon specific product advice. Even my Janet Simms book is lacking (TBH not thinking much of that book, but there you go, it's the one the college reccommended!)

Thanks guys:hug:

I know that some people are sensitive to parabens - you might want to watch for that.

hi

paula begouns website - cosmetics cop - has a wealth of information on ingredients that you may find useful

try Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary: Cosmetics Cop: Skin Care & Makeup Tips & Reviews

in her book - the beauty bible -some listed ingredients that the skin reacts negatively to that are typical skincare & make-up ingredients are: alcohol followed by a number, arnica, balsam, bentonite, camphor, eugenol, grapefruit, menthol, phenol, sodium olefin sulfate, sodium laurel sulfate, TEA-lauryl sulfate

there is also very useful information on skincare as well

Hi I am never fond of these type of questions as it depends on what your skin type is and therefore can affect your sensitivity. For example bismuth oxychloride found in eye shadow can cause allergy to all but if you have redness then retinol may be a causitive sensitiser and if you suffer from acne it is likely that certain oils such as coconut and cinnamon can cause worsening conditions. :)

Golly guys, that's so helpful! Theres loads of extra info there, thanks so much. I love Salon Geeks:green::hug:
