I'm with ABT, they're really good and you also get a free annual subscription to Scratch magazine for free which is worth about £50 and the insurance for nail technicians with them is around that price too (not sure I'm allowed to state the exact price). X

Go direct and use balens. They are amazing at getting a great deal and policy.

Hi @Lauram90

We just wanted to pop on and introduce ourselves and also give you some hopefully useful advice. BABTAC offer insurance as you are NSI qualified and as long as you are just doing nail treatments, you will come under our specialist member package at just £49! You can find out more here: BABTAC, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology

We hope we are the right company for you, but appreciate you may want to shop around; when considering your insurance, it shouldn’t be price driven, but should focus on level of cover. Sit down and think about exactly what you want to offer – what type of people will you be treating, which nail treatments etc., then ask every insurance provider you speak to, what is excluded from the policy, before looking at what’s included. This will help make sure you don’t get caught out if something happens and you hadn’t planned for it! Price doesn’t always determine the level of cover at all but equally, sometimes (not always) other policies can leave you vulnerable.

Something else to consider is what else would be helpful to you for saving money and helping you run the business? BABTAC is a Professional Association, and we offer both insurance and membership benefits included in the same price; these can help you save time and upskill. It is important to ask everyone that you approach what else is included in the price as industry magazines, product discounts, training discounts, promotional support etc., could really help you make the business a success and lower your overheads. Just a thought and something else you may find useful when choosing!

Hope this helps and we’d love to have you as a member if you feel we are right for you. If you have any questions at all regarding our packages, don’t forget to call our membership team on 01452 623110 (option 1) and they’ll be happy to help.

Good luck now and in the future!

The BABTAC Team x

Hope you dont mind me adding a question related to insurance within this thread - Im in the process of looking for insurance.

Im hoping to do mobile CND Shellac ( I have the 2day CND Shellac training certificate ) which i did at The fingertips centre in Newbridge/Edinburgh. Unsure what type of qualification this actually is.. has anyone else done this?

How do i go about looking for the appropriate insurance?

Thanks, Geeks :)

How about emailing the insurance companies directly and asking them if you could get insurance with them with the course you have completed. Sorry I'm no help! :)

I emailed them and got different info from someone else that called to ask the same question! x

I'd go with the advice they gave you, especially I'm writing. Just in case you go with them and there's ever a problem.

When I sent abt my Shellac certificate they insured me for exactly what it said on it, which is 'certified shellac provider'. Not sure if that helps in the slightest lol, probably not :o

Abt all the way

I emailed ABT and they cant insure me until I have a basic manicure certificate as well 😔

Doesn't the CND shellac cover manicure? I'm surprise if they're training non manicure qualified in shellac 😳

I was under the impression thats why i learnt all about the make up of the nail / and possible diseases etc as well as having online assessments! Im hoping ABT have made a mistake and maybe mis understood what I was actually saying. Ive emailed the training centre as well as the Insurance company back. The cost of the course was not cheap! and I wasn't expecting to pay another sum of money to get a basic manicure certificate! Hopefully I'll have a better understanding tomorrow 😊👍

Try another insurer too. I've recently renewed mine for semi permanent make up and skin needling and I was amazed how many I spoke to didn't actually know what I was talking about! Ask fingertips who they recommend.

Turns out they can insure me after all 😊👍
