hello.
ive been given a oppertunity today to rent a seat in a beauty salon, as a nail tech. im newly qualified so my confidence is not through the roof but i do think i could make a decent living from this!
i just worry about being the only technian if i have a problem i have no one to help, unlike if i were to be employed in a nail salon.
would i be mad to let this oppertunity pass or would you advise to get more experiance first?
any thoughts would be really great! thankyou.

This is one of the best ways to gain the experience needed, throw yourself in at the deep end and go for it,
i did something very similar 2 weeks after qualifying and never looked back,

take a camera to work with you and take pics, put them on here and we can all help you when and where you need it,
give it a go, what have you to lose

Well throwing yourself into the deep end like that is will certinally give you industry experience and you will learn a lot.
I think a lot depends on how confident you feel in your own work. Do you feel ready? Do you think your training was enough to prepare you for the outside world?

I don't want to be negative, it does sound like a wonderfull oppertunity, but if you dont feel ready just yet it might knock your confidence in the long term.
It took me nearly a year after training to be fully confident and ready for full paying clients that wern't just friends or family (and a few other courses since:lol:)

I think if your trainer at collage is willing to give advise even though you have finished then that will be a big help and stop you feeling alone. So ask, I would expect you to get a yes of course! answer. Would I do it, absolutely. I did, I loved it and it really helped me to see what I would and wouldn't do in my own place and what further training I wanted.
Good luck hun:hug:

Instead of just sitting there thinking these things JUST DO IT....and i mean that with the greatest of respect:green::hug:

Yes do it.
Best way to learn and you have 100s of people to ask right here on the site if you need help.
I wish I'd had this site when I started out in the business. I went straight into doing clients from my class.

hey thanks everyone. i know i feel so fortunate to of found this site, ive already got so much advice from you all its fab!
im gonna do it, im gonna ring her tonight and tell her! its not to start untill next month so hoping to have done a conversion course with cnd by then and to get as much practic in as humanly possibley! lol!
i would of loved to been able to ask my trainer for advice but i feel abit strange about it as she also owns a local nail salon, so i guess il be in direct compatition with her so i cant imagen her wanting to help me to much!
i need to get to grips with this site properly so i can get pictures up, so i can get tips and advice off you guys!!!xxx

Hi Hun,
Congrats!!! So glad you have decided to take the oportunity.
Best wishes.
Lotsa luv x x   x x

DO it! I came out of training, 3 months as a mobile tech and then opened my own salon. Believe me, there is nothing like flying on seat of your pants. Its scary sometimes, I am lucky I have a business partner who is also a nail tech and beauty therapist. We rely on each other , you wont have that as such, but we are your virtual support!

As for problems, well like the others say, you have here to go to if you hit a rocky spot.

Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Good for you, at that price i think that your right to take the chance, and like i said previously you can always reduce the price as a limited special offer, which i find takes the pressure off while you build confidence and gain clients. I'm sure that you will go from strength to strength., Jackie b
