Acrylic gonne wrong? - Today, 12:01 PM
This is the first time i write smt at the forum although i'm a member for a long time.I usually stay in my closet  and read all of the fantastic stuff you are writing without commenting. (i'm a little shy).

But today i decided to post something that really annoyed me.
(After all this reading, on how you should do stuff the proper way, i believe i have reached a tolerable lvl to understand when something is going wrong).
I was browsing today youtube and i stumbled on this how to do video which is unacceptable.

(please correct me if i'm wrong and i falsely accused the person of not doing it right, cause i cant judge someone 100% due to the fact i'm not a nail professional)

After that i did my search on expert village site and i found out the ladys profile which says that :

***(name removed)*** has been performing her creative expert nail techniques since 1997. In 2005 she moved to Los Angeles California to pursue her career as a licensed manicurist. Now established and working at a world renowned salon in California, she has established a long list of clients.

Is it just me that says that this lady hasnt got any idea of what she is doing? :irked::mad:

All this time i'm reading the forum i got the feeling, that if you dont do everything properly and if you docnot pay attention to details, you can cause serious health problems to the person you are treating.
I also believe that this is way wrong to even post it online because others can follow her wrong tutorial and hurt someone.

There was a topic about this a while back HERE , that clip got a very strong reaction. I don't know how old the actual clip is but it shocked me when I saw it

OMG I saw the thread the last time but didn't watch the clip, as someone who is just started training in l&p, she actually made me feel good cause on my worse day my nails look better than that bubbles and all..lol...cannot believe she is supposed to be a professional

hmmm seems that us girls & guys are well ahead of the game regarding the how to vids posted on you tube ..everytime i go to veiw them they are no longer avalible and are removed...so i watch nailzoo's ones instead.

suzy49 kindly pmed me & showed me how to view the vid...ummm..uhkayy!...i don't know if my comments might count as i'm still re-training..BUT! the massive bead of powder:eek: and she scrapped it up as tho it was a shovel:eek: the going over the skin with the L&P(imagine it were a real client) poor little finger:eek: the huge bulk on the nail:eek: and ermmm using a top brand like creative don't know if the powders were same ...if she is pro- NT ermm SHAME on her ..sorry i don't know her or have heard of her .. but her vid gave me a negative response that i screwed me face up & got me thinking on the lovely hollywood talons and tootsies from the film " THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2"

but looking on youtube myself i watched this techs brilliant nail artristy with i think it's popits>?

Can't see the video, don't know why.

But going with others reactions i'm surprised this lady has any clients. All said some clients don't know any better and think this is how its done.

I'm all for clients education, and how they should demand a professional service.

click on the link above the screen not on the screen and it will play ..x

after looking at this i decied to put "applying acrylic nails" into youtube to see what it came up with i watched antother clip and when she was applying (to client not a trainer) she was pulling th acrylic down with a stroking action when i was training i was told not to do this no im starting doubt which way is right i was also told not to wet the acrylic again with monomer like what the girl did in the vid posted on the thread again whos right

Basic rule number 1 - never use monomer without polymer. In other words ... never dip into monomer and use it 'neat' for anything other than to pick up powder.

As for your brush technique ... techniques vary and as long as what you are doing is safe and works with your product then there is not a right or wrong.

i thought so, i knew what she was doing was wrong but iv seen a few techs in salons doing it as well so i was starting to worry that everything i learnt was in correct thanks geeg

OMG!!!!:eek:. What can i say !!!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

The hilarious thing is the fact that she thinks they are brilliant.

So Shocking :eek::eek:

I think the first thing that really bothered me was she picked up her brush and then TOUCHED THE BRISTLES!!!! Isn't that one of the very first things we're told? NEVER touch your brush! EVER!

Oh my god the overexposure! My fingers were starting to itch just watching her sloshing the monomer around...

I'd just love to know where she did her training...

a lot of "techs" learnt by themselves you know?

it's hard to fight against those who sell products that should be available only for professionnal..

That's just terrible. I'm bloody proud of my certificates! It took me a long time and a lot of heartache to get them but I know it was worth it!

I really wish it wasn't like this... I don't like the idea that other non-trained peeps are out there, buying their products from places like ebay and then watching youtube videos such as this to learn! :irked:

hear hear

I don't know how this "desease" is spreading in the UK, but in France it's awful. I'm often asked for help from these "techs" it's sad

More like epidemic all over... I know a lot of people who are selftaught and working on 'black' (I'm not sure what is the english word for working and not paying taxes, without certificates and so on).
Here in Croatia we don't have actual schools for nails like I see you do in UK or elsewhere in the world. There are courses, but they are really expencive, if you really want to learn. And it's alowed for freeking everyone to go into the professional store and buy things and do whatever with it.
Since the education is expencive, some salon owners don't want to invest into their employees and are greedy for money and clients, so they 'teach eachother'.
There is also a Croatian forum about nails, I think someone's idea was to make something like this one, but it turned to be place for advertising certain salons and people saying, don't go to school, you don't need that, we'll advise you..... arrrgh! Coz many people think, ah, it's easy money, I can do that! :irked:

But, when it all comes to an end, IMHO the quality work always wins the cheap and lousy ones, so I don't worry much. (and when those tax fellows catch you working on 'black', you are doomed for life). I'm just sorry for those clients who suffer/pay for terrible services.

Belive me, dear, it happens here, and there's no law against it, because in our state there's no order in this matter, not so ever. Can you believe, when I started my business, I didn't have to present any certificate that I'm trained! I said - there it is! And they said, no, we don't need that , because I have two high school degrees and a colledge degree (not related to nails, I was a primary school teacher). So it is my good will to be educated and proceed with all proper methods and stuff... Hairdressers and cosmetologists have to, but for nail salon - nothing. So imagine that. I just hope that when we get to EU, someone puts an end to this jungle.

But as I said - quality wins, no matter who does what.
