sorry the pics so big!

I will have to get him to the doctors tomorrow dont you think? he seems to think it will go away on its own:irked:

Any thoughts....?

It looks to me as if it could be infected hence the swelling. Has he bin biting the bits of skin at the side? This can cause germs to get in.
Is the nail lifting off the nail bed at all or gone a yellowish colour? x

no there is no lifting and it doesn't look like he's been biting, it is swollen and yellow! and he says it hurts like mad.

i would say yeah, but i could be wrong hun. Aww poor lad it looks really sore bless him x

It does look really painful bless him!! It does look like peronychia to me. I would say take him to the docs asap in the morning who might give him some antibiotics to take the infection away.In the meantime i would bathe it in some sterilised water and just put a dressing on it just to avoid anything nasty getting in there.
Let us know how he gets on hun, good luck xxx

I'd advise a GP appt before you continue...for insurance purposes etc x

Sorry just realised he's your son lol
Even so..best to be safe than sorry x

His grandma saw it today and rang the doctors, but there was no appointments:irked: so I will ring first thing tomorrow and book him in after school if possible, He says he will go to doctors if he can go in school time!!! it is his first day at high school tomorrow:rolleyes:

I'll let you all know how he gets on, and thank you all for your replies:hug:

He'll be all germy...I've got 2 boys and they tend to be that way if it's any consolation...then they discover girls..not sure which is best tbh :lol:

Known also as a whitlow and is contagious and real painful. Your son will need to see his GP and treatment will be given. My Daughter had one from biting the skin around her nail and infection set in x
