Hi I am new to this forum and stumbled across it by chance. I live in east sussex and wanted to do a vtct pedicure course. Its immposible to find a college down here that does pedicure on its own.
I want to specialise in doing pedicures & learn different things to do with the feet extra special treatments ie parrafin wax/ spa type treats for the feet. I would be aiming to work from home and be happy to go out and about mobile too. I just want it to be a real treat for the feet service!.
I have been looking at the salon systems one day course which I like the sound of and the products sound nice too. Also I have been looking at the LCN pedicure course from what I can see products may be quite expensive. I see that they do something called wilde pedique which sounds good too. I dont tend to want to go and work in a salon on the hight street so hoped that doing one of theses courses would be a good way to go about it by myself.
Can I ask your opinions on doing some pedicure courses. Ps I also saw a place called the ELA east london academy that does a one day course for nvq where you go back ,but to be honest Tower Hamlets is far to far to travel for me & I dont want to go to a place I dont know my way about on my own
Any help /advice would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone else just specialise in pedicures too? and if so please tell me about it ? Many thanks xx minty

,
I would recommend calling sweet squared and doing a pedicure class with them or one of there Academy's ,
The C.N.D pedicure products are to die for ! And the training is excellent. 0845 210 6060

As for your other question foot care treatments is popular all year round but I belive call for it peeks around this time of year,
I think as to how successful a feet only tech could be would go by things like your location? I'm right by the beach and I wouldn't say we do enough pedicure's alone in a week to pay the bills,
So I would consider learning other treatments as well,

Look into Dr Scholls ... then you could do chiropody as well as pedicures which could grow into a business of it's own ....

frankly just doing pedicures and not being prepared to offer your clients really good products (which will cost you money, I'm afraid) will not make you a living. Buying products which have no lasting benefit to your clients is not really giving them their money's worth either.

Glad you stumbled over thesalongeek and didn't trip yourself up as we are the largest on line website for hand, foot, hair and skin professionals in the world... :D

If your based in the uk you cannot do chiropody courses anymore - in line with legislation some 5 years ago, this title was droped and those calling themselves chiropodists had the option to go on to be HPC registered. To do anything medically with feet you have to do a 3 year Podiatry degree programme at one of the 12 uni's around the uk.

I am a Foot Health Practioner - which is the new name for what was the chiropodist, I can do most things on feet but not do medical treatments such as surgical removal of toenails and use certain prescription only medication to treat conditions such as ingrowing toenails and athletes foot. There are I believe 3 schools that offer such training - I looked around all of them and yes I travelled to do this before I parted with my money and found the one I went with was best suited to my way of learning and answered my questions and had quality customer service and Im glad I did.

I am doing the wilde -pedique course in July so will let you know how I get on with it - and as im a health professional Im doing different techniques than the beauty therapists(as a b/t I did toy with the idea of doing that course but decided against it).

I personally have found it very challenging at times trying to offer lots of things and then find the clients - as there are lots of salons offering the same, some money has been wasted along the way.

I have decided to use my experience to concentrate solely (excuse the pun) on feet - there is certainly a market for polishes and gels that stay for a couple of weeks on the feet - as geeg pointed out espically at this time of year, but dont limit yourself to just do the painted toenails - as Geeg said there are places out there - you just have to do your research, do yourself a plan and be prepared to think abit outside the box.

Im glad I did, Im opening up within the next week or so :):)

Bastien Gonzales has made a career of it! But a 1 day course is not going to cut it! If you want to specialise you have to be the best you can be and much better than anyone who has pedicures on a bigger menu. Learn everything to do with feet!

Hi many thanks for all the replies havent been able to get on computer till today to find them. I found all the replies very helpfull. I really want to start something up once I have done course. Its hard deciding which course now!
