Hello,
I had a baby nearly 10 months ago and want to set up doing nails and some beauty bits from home. I have cleared out my snug and Im in the process of getting it to look more salon like. Can anyone give me any pointers as you where to start with getting clients. Im going to advertise in my local paper and local news letter. But I dont have much confidence even though I worked in a salon 6 years ago. Ive lost it.
Please help I really want it too work and Im prepared to put all the hard work into it. Many thanks Emma xx

Hi Emma,
I actually did a pamphlet drop in letter boxes around where I live as well as yellow pages, newspaper etc. Found the newspaper not so successful b/c the ladies usually don't read it (but it may be different where you are). I also advertise in a local newsletter, you might find your local school(s) or something have a newsletter you can place adds in.

hope that helps and good luck :green:

P.S. don't let lack of confidence stop you from advertising and getting yourself out there. Your confidence improves over time and just remember, not matter what, what you are doing... others can't do. It is skill you have learned & trained to do.

Hiya,

I moved from to a complete new area 4 years ago and didn't know anyone. I set up my salon from home and did a huge leaflet drop round my local areas, advertised in a little local booklet of businesses that is delivered where I live & put notices in my local shops. I also did the Pamper evenings at the local Primary and Secondary schools. It was a nervous time, as I did'nt know if it would work out or not. But within a week I had my first two clients, who have since been regular clients.

It was a little bit slow the first few months, but most of my clients come on recommendation, and by the end of the first year my diary was full, and has been ever since.

I feel very lucky to be where I am now. How many woemen in their late 40's are stuck in jobs that they hate because they are frightened of making a life change or can't afford to do so because of financial commitments. I love my job and I have met so many lovely ladies and made some really good friends over the past 4 years. It's the best decission I have ever made.

Good luck, don't let your confidence get the better of you, go out there and keep telling yourself that you are "one fenominal woman".

Good luck & keep smiling

Sally

Hi, yes I agree with the leaflet drop, that would be one of the best ways. Things do pick up by recommendation too. I have all of a sudden gotten so busy because because I am getting recommended by loads of people!! It may be slow to start with, but just hang on in there and it will happen xx

Thanks Guys, Now i have seen that other people have done the same as me gives me hope. I will take all your ideas on board and give them a shot.

Thanks once again x

Have a look at my thread "more ways to promote your business"
