I have a client who has Clear L&P then polish with either a sticker or some little gems, she comes every 2 weeks to have this done she ofter brings her own gems and always her own polish.

She is off to Arizona on the 18th for 3 weeks and does get her nails done over there but I was wondering about putting a layer of Coloured Gel over the L&P just to make sure they are still pristine for going away.
I use Brisa and don't have there coloured gels yet I just mix a little Enamel with clear.

This is the way I thought I would do it,
  1. Buff and file Clear L&P
  2. Wipe with Scrubfresh
  3. Apply Clear Gel
  4. Apply Coloured Gel
  5. Apply Clear Layer
  6. Buff
  7. Apply UV Topcoat.
Would this work or is there to many layers of gel?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated:hug:

Over buffed L&P I have applied
1. 2 coats of coloured gel curing between each layer
2. 1 coat of topcoat - cure

ensuring that each layer is capped HTH

Thanks Adele
Do you use Finishing Gloss straight on to the Colour?
I thought it needed a buffed surface to adhere to?

No any gel including the UV topcoat will adhere to the sticky inhibition layer left after curing (have amended my original reply to say that each colour layer must be cured before applying another.

I think thats where I went wrong the last time I did coloured Gel I wiped after curing itso I could apply the topcoat and it seemed to come off:eek:
I will not do that this time just cure then apply topcoat

Scrubfreshing over L&P before applying gel doesn't seem to work well. The gel doesn't adhere as well to the L&P.

Hi,
My clients have this all the time... I just do the L and P same as usual.... buff and shape just use a nail brush to get rid of the dust...
Then apply 2 coats of your coloured gel and cure between coats.. then finish with your clear coat... They will stay beautiful for the time she is away.

Sounds like a great client bringing her own stuff to you....
I encourage them to bring in their fav colours ect... they never do.. maybe that is a compliment to me that they like my stuff i don;t know.

Do you remember your 3 key points about what Brisa will stick to hun

1. Liquid bond
2. Inhibition layer
3. 180 grit surface

for coating L&P enhancements I refine with a 180, do a quick swipe (do NOT scrub) with s/f and apply colour gel (or enamel coloured gel as you do) then cure,(do not remove inhibition layer) apply top coat cure and then finally remove inhibition layer :)

I am curious... appologies.. i didn't read the "brisa" part...

BUT how do you make coloured gel with enamel?.... I have not heard of this before?..

Are you saying that you can just add nail polish to clear gel and it will work just the same?

X Mel

I was wondering about this too!

Now that CND have finally come out with the coloured & shimmer gels (one of the last in the industry to do this!) we no longer have the need to use enamel in our gel, but its what we had to do for a whiles, some still do as long as u follow the above threads that have been posted its fine.
