I have just started doing lash perms and the effect I am getting is not quite right. Can you tell me do you put the perm lotion at the root of the lash or about half way up the lash? I was taught to put it half way up but have read to apply it at the root.

Any advice would be much appriciated!

I always apply it from the root, but don't go as far as the tip. This is how I was tought ans have found it to give the best results regardless of the brand I use.

Thanks for that. I think that is why I am not getting the results I want as I am applying it too far up and therfore not getting the 'eyes wide open' look! Just need some more willing volunteers to practice on now....:)

Your products may have taken a turn!

Could you buy another set of lotions etc to see if that is the cause?

Wish i was nearer, i could do with the open eye look !

Seriously, how was the training, im about to book mine soon, any tips??

I find it best to go right down to the root, this way you get the most effective and natural looking results.

by not perming to the tip it may help avoid possible hooked ends, thank you for the tip i will give it a try.

I'm not far from Reading if you want a guinea pig!

I have literally just permed my own eyelashes (finished about 40 minutes ago)! How annoying is that! I go all the way to the roots too but leave the tip. Its a very effective treatment I've found and it is possibly one of my favourites to do. That and spray tanning although I do a mighty amount more tanning than permng!

i was taught to do both half way and at root, depending on the curl the client wanted. the nearer the root the tighter the curl. I prefer mine half way though as they are quite long, and too curled would look daft. I use Thuya and its great as you can tint in the same treatment

I love lash perming, and was taught to perm from the root to the tip but I think I will give it a go not right up to the tips just to see what its like,

Hi Champagne,

I trained at Ellisons last year using Thuya and it's fantastic! I've had excellent results (it's something I just got the hang of pretty well.)

On my course there were only 6 of us, so the individual attention was great and I believe that helped. You'll love it; it's fascinating...
