Ive just received a tunic with my company name embroidered on it, the tunic is brown and the lettering is gold.

the problem is, I don't like it!

the gold is a garish yellow, any ideas on how to tone it down?

With it being specially embroidered I guess there is no chance of returning it, so do you think it would maybe tone down once it was washed?

don't know. its a shame but its SO IN YER FACE, thought I might get a marker pen on it or shoe polish.

Tea or coffee would have been good to tone it down but I guess that would just wash out, unless you could mix something with it.. x

Hi there hippy chic, did the colour match the sample that you looked at before you placed the order? Perhaps you could inform them that the colour was not what you expected. They might be able to undo and change the logo, could you let us see a picture of your new tunic? :)

what about going over it with a needle and cotton in another colour...???

psml, have you seen me with needle and cotton!

will take a photo tomorrow and show you.

No bb, I ordered it over the phone so didn't get to see a sample.

Bagpusses comment made me chuckle as I remember from another thread you don't do sewing if you can help it :)

you only have to follow whats already there... its like tracing..PMSL

i am guessing bleaching the letters useing a Q tip might work, it would make the gold more of a yellow..but you would have to be extra careful not to get it on the top.

felt pen definitely yes it will wash out but not with just one wash
if you use a permanent marker you are stuck with it!

try going over the stitching on the wrong side first as a test

What about dying the uniform brown again.... same colour as the original and this might tone down the yellow gold?

thanks,will have a think.

What about adding some diamantes here & there with nail glue? (Or hot-fix crystals)
That will take your eye off the lettering a bit
