just realised that i hadnt posted this thread but posted as a reply so i'll try again ha ha ha

i have a question that i would like peoples opinion on!!

i have been checking out the competition on spray tans in my area and was told that the best way to have a tan was to have 3 spray tans 5 days apart and then the 4th 10 days later and then your skin is more used to it and holds the tan better so you can be sprayed once every 2 weeks without tan fading!!

I wasnt told this in my training so just curious as to how true it is

thanks

Unless the lotion has some new kind of skin shredding system programming technology i seriously doubt it!

Sounds like a rouse to me!

Im not trained in spray tanning yet... but that seems like a heck of a lot of spraying!

The truth of the matter is there are no rules set in stone and therapist adopt many many different approaches...some only do full body applications whilst others offer a top up xx number of days after a full body spray and so on.
All tans (unless you use B&Q's new antique dark fence paint)will fade as the skin is replenished...obviously if you top up before this replenishment cycle is complete it will appear as if you have a never fading tan.

The key is to ensure your customer exfoliates properly before a spray tan application so as to remove any excess tan and dead skin build up which will "grab " solution and turn a darker brown than the rest of the skins surface.

Likewise post tan application skin maintenance regimes are important to assist in maintaining your skin condition and the longevity of the tan itself(the use of moisturisers containing DHA will further aid the longevity of the tan).

So no strict/fixed rules that apply other than exfoliate, spray, moisturise and make sure you remove any tan build up and or dead skin.

Happy spray tanning

As Collin mentioned this is not a rule! Obviously the therapist is trying to generate business for herself by doing this. But it doesn't make a different at all i do always suggest to clients that i do top up tans within 7 days if they want it, but leave it upto them to decide if they want the top up tan.

OMG that's crazy. This therapist is out to make money big time by the sounds of it. I don't know what she's using but you would end up with and overload of dha surely!
Then it would fade looking awful.
What client is going to do this? That's craziness
