What is the greenest thing you Geeks all do ?at home or in the salon,
Seems to me some time's life is just to busy to be green and its so easy not to be everything's disposable or quick/instant so our good intentions just go out the window,

I try to save electric I moan at the kids about leaving the lights on and turning heating on yet I leave my lap top on for 4 days in a row lol

We don't do anything that green in our house, though I don't drive, and we are all vegetarian that seems to be about it! (not even sure being veggy counts as "green" lol) :green::green:

i'm very good at recycling. i am always to be found rummaging through our bins and separating the paper and plastics.
i love to think i am doing the right thing, but hate all the space it takes up in my kitchen.

i dont [well actually, cant] drive, so i suppose thats green.
i am growing some vegatables too.
need a halo emoticon lol

I try... but I agree it's not always easy when you're busy and need some convenience.

I am very good at recycling, even stuff they don't collect here like glass and tetra paks. I also freecycle a lot. I always turn my telly off with the switch not the remote. I use ecover washing up liquid and so forth and 99% of the time reusable shopping bags. I have also given my bf the hard word on 4x4's! We are currently 'discussing' washable nappies :green:

Work-wise it's more difficult. I used to put used couch roll in my compost bin  I don't at the mo because all my compost bins are full and I'm not really up for gardening at the mo so they will remain full for the time being.

I use those eco balls instead of washing powder sometimes, i.e. if the towels aren't actually marked. Always recycled loo rolls and tissues.

I reckon working from home is environmentally friendly - don't need to use the car!

Mmmmm -I am so with you Mizzy about the electric!! I also do that and have my laptop on 24/7 lol

I am quite eco friendly though - I recycle everything I can. What isn't allowed in the recycle bin usually goes into a craft box for the kids school to make fun things with. I grow my own salad so don't buy prepacked stuff if that counts!

I am just about to buy a water butt too so I can not use tap water for the garden - especially useful now we have turfed the front and back gardens!

I grow my own veg. Sadly I also drive gas guzzlers, so that kind of cancels it out.

Its nice when you find your old posts and you see progress in your life!
I wrote this almost a year and 1/2 ago lol
And Now that I live in Germany I HAVE to recycle my rubbish :)
And
Iv stoped drinking millions of bottles of water and got a water cooler that dose hot aswell so I'm not boiling the kettle all the time to.
The lap top is broken and switched off but I do have my iPad on all the time lol
How about any of you? What do you do or would like to do?

I recycle as much as i can, have my own allotment so grow our own fruit and veg and trade with people for other things.Have two chickens who eat our scraps and provide two eggs a day, work from home dont drive.I bike with my twins to and from nursary.I make my own wash powder and use the water from my tumble dryer on my plants. The sad thing is I dont do it to be green,I do it more for the fact it's cheeper.I suppose it's better then nothing.

My husband drinks a lot of soda and he saves his cans and gives them to a local man for recycling.

Where's my freakin' halo?

My thing is not turning the shower on ten minutes before I get in ... just have images of kids and adults having to walk 5 miles to get a pitcher of water and it makes me feel bad to just let it go down the plug hole while I faff around doing something else.

Jacqui xx

is it really eeeeew to use the expression if it's yellow, let it mellow, it it's brown la la la.....?

we have a private water supply and a septic tank so are very mindful of the environment....

Yes recycling in Germany is taken seriously. We used to have something like 7/8 different collections/bins etc.. It is not unknown for the inspectors to come round the night before and check the bins have the correct stuff in them. I know someone who was fined for having the wrong things in the wrong bins.

Now we are in the States it is not so. I don't recycle much, it is a poor excuse really but I don't have the time working 6 days a week and long hours as it the norm for many in the States. I have an insinkarator which liquidizes food leftovers, so that is kind of recycling! Now the only reason I wash things before they go in the trash can is to stop the smell in the extreme heat and keep the Racoons at bay.

So what can I do elsewhere. I bought the Spa Ritual products for use in the spa/retail. I try not to use lots of disposable items where the law doesn't dictate I have to. I also look for products/treatments that are greener/organic where I can.

I go to KFC where they now serve coleslaw/beans etc in reusable containers which I take home, also sometime keep the Chinese tupperware type dishes .......do those count? Oh and my latest lunch bag is made out of reycled bottles but it is very chic!!!
