Nail brand Essie Cosmetics, which was founded in 1981 by Essie Weingarten, has been acquired by global powerhouse L'Oréal USA.

Essie’s impressive sales figures, netting $28 million in the past 12 months, means L'Oréal USA is well placed to bolster its influence in the nail care market.

Essie has grown its original portfolio of 12 shades of nail lacquer to become one of the top professional brands. Today, the shade range tops 300, and the products are available in over 250,000 salons and spas in 95 countries.

It’s all change at Essie’s UK distributor too. Formerly Perfect Nails, the company is now called Louella Belle Limited.

I absolutely love Essie nail polishes!!! So many different shades and I love the names too heh heh!

does this mean they will now be available at supermarkets with the rest of the loreal products or will loreal retain it as a salon only brand?

I've seen essie at stores such as Target.

oh no! I love Essie but I DESPISE L'Oreal. The company are sooooo unethical. I cant ever buy an Essie polish again! I'm actually devastated
