Hope someone can help me. I am fairly new and I have just had a lady ask me for a pedicure and a lower leg wax - she says she has had these 2 treatments together lots of times before at the salon she usually goes to. Due to parking issues she is looking for a new beauty therapist and decided to give me a call - so i have booked her in and am now worrying which order to do them in. So my question is which do I do first?

hi i would do the leg wax first

then use after wax for the massage part of the pedicure

pedicure first, as after waxing no perfumed products should be used on the area waxed, also durung your massage you would be touchning the area that had been waxed which may risk infection, bit of a shame to have a lovely relaxing treatment first and then have it finnished off with a more uncomfortable one lol, prewax area as the lotions you use for her pedi might cause problems with your wax, good luck, could be the start of a nice regular customer hth xx ruth

Defo pedi first....make sure you remove all the massage oil before you wax her. I do my pedicures up on the couch and if you do it this way you won't have to move her once she's up there...

Hope this helps

Thank you for your advice. Sorry an newbie - how do you do a pedi on the couch? What about soaking the feet etc and how do you stop the polish coming off when you wax back of legs if you do the pedi first? Sorry so many questions

Always end up with the relaxing treatment. Also, she'll smudge her polish when you turn her over to do the back of her legs.

Apply oil to her legs after the waxing, then focus on her feet only during the pedicure. xx

Hi
I regularly carry out pedicures and leg waxing together.......especially during the holiday season!!
I carry out the pedicure first (except polish application) then do the leg wax and finally apply polish to the toes after waxing completed.

Definately the waxing first, always leave the relaxing treatment to last.
I think it would be a complete flaff to have the pedicure done first, then have to worry about smudging the polish or worry about after you have had a lovely relaxing treatment of a pedicure have the rigmarole of having to go through a waxing treatment which is going to take off all of the moisturiser you have just had applied to the legs.It wouldn't make sense to do a pedicure first.

I do soak and scrub for the pedi, move the client onto the couch for waxing then continue the pedicure using the after wax oil for the massage (which I do after the polish to leave it time to dry. (obviously I don't massage the toes!.)

I wax first and then I'm careful not to fill the foot spa too deep so it just covers the feet and only massage up to the ankles, or if the client really wants a leg massage I'l use after wax oil. Obviously if the client has their feet and toes waxed it's not a good idea though

Also if you soak the feet first, doesn't this make the skin too soft? I would be worried about the risk of taking too much skin off as I use strip wax for legs x

I just do a quick dip and scrub just to get rid of any pong! The feet are only in for a few minutes so it doesn't affect the skin. I've been doing if for years with no problems.

Well if it works, I'm not knockin it! :D

I have 2 clients who have this done every 4 weeks and I do both the pedicures first and then the waxing. I haven't ever thought it out before now as it never even occurred to me as being a problem!:o

The toes carry on drying while the waxing is being done, I do the backs of the legs first helping them to dangle their feet over the bottom edge of the couch and they turn over easily enough and I do the fronts.

As you can see we are fairly equally divided as to which way around we do it, the other way would be fine for me if a client requested it, there is no right or wrong as long as you mind out for the obvious oil issues etc.

Go with what you are comfortable with and try not to think that there is always a right and wrong way of doing things, as long, as I said before, you follow all the health and safety thingies! :D

Thank you all for your advice - you've given me lots to think about -i really love this site.:D
