Hi,

I am in the process of doing a nail course at the Creative Nail Academy in Leeds. I have found the academy to be brilliant as the classes are small and the staff are very helpful.

As I am also wanting to do a course in Make-up but dont really want to go to any of my local colleges I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a similar academy or school?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Vicki

The place most reccommended when I was at college was "London College of Fashion". I don't think it's anything like your normal college, and an awful lot of successful make up artists went there!

My friend is currently studying there, they're taking her to the world bodypainting festival in austria, where she's going to be displaying her work, and she did make up at the make up artist trade show this year!

I've just done a specialist Certificate in Bridal Make-up for Photography at The Makeover Studio in Portsmouth with Tina Elliot-Hunt. It was absolutely excellent. You don't walk away with a certificate-there is some work to do including a couple of photo shoots which are marked and then can be used to start off your portfolio.
This is her 2nd course-if you've not done any make-up before I think you have to do a foundation 2 day course, then this one and then the last one which I will be going back to do later in the year is her Diploma in Media make-up.
Not cheap but against the cost of the others not expensive, the Royal Effem kits are fab as well she can supply you with and it's lovely make-up to work with.
Also it's easy to fit in as i'm in Sheffield so you've only got to find accommodation for a night.
The courses are fully certificated and insurable and once you've done the media course you are fully qualified!
If you want to know anything else about it just PM me

Thank You all for your advice. Its so hard to know where to go when there are so many.

Thanks again. xxxxx:green:

I've just booked into the foundation and bridal courses with Tina in early June - I'm giddy with excitement!

Calla you will be it was brilliant. I travelled all the way from Sheffield to go on the course and trained with 4 other lovely ladies. I'm still in the process of doing my after course work to send back for marking but I have to say it was worth every penny! I will be going back later on this year (hopefully) to do the Diploma course.
Tina is lovely too.
Good Luck and enjoy every minute of it

bummer - just checked with BABTAC and Tina's course is not accredited with them so I can't go on it.

I'm doing the Bridal Make Up Course at Leeds Thomas Danby College on Monday, I am from the Midlands but may be moving near Leeds and so asked the girls at Harvey Nicholls where they trained and they all said Thomas Danby.

They do a few more make up courses too, so after I have sussed it out on Monday I might book onto the rest..

I looked at Jemma Kidd and Greasepaint too but I couldn't afford them at the time but they are fantastic courses....xxxx
