Hi all :)

For those who do Microdermabrasion, what route did you follow with your training & insurance?

I qualified years ago in level 3 beauty & have been gaining various qualifications over the years as I find more & more courses to do (you know what its like).

Tomorrow I go upto Liverpool to do my Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion training. I bought a unit not so long ago & am really keen to start offering this treatment.

Now. I was just on the phone to FHT, who I am a member of & insured via. They are telling me that Crystal Clear is not on their recognised list & therefore I will not be able to get insurance for MDA with them unless I do an accredited course. I can however get insurance if I have been doing MDA for 2 or more years.

So I phone VTCT to see what they have to offer & am told that MDA is now offered as a unit in the level 3 beauty therapy course...... I wonder if I can just complete a unit as a bolt on?

A friend of mine is a nail tech, has opened a beauty salon, done her trining with CC & is offering MDA yet isn't even a beauty therapist & here I am, with my skills & knowledge, being told I will be unable to get insured & can not offer the treatment.

Help!

xx

Hi there

I'm nearing completion of NVQ level 3 beauty and Microdermabrasion was not offered in our course. We do micro-current, Galvanic and Faradic but not MD. I am on an enrichment course tomorrow with Carlton and we apparently cover MD but not sure to what extent.
I too have purchased an MD machine and need to get training/insurance for it so would be interested in anyone else's comments. I live in Kent and all the training locations seem to be quite a long way away.

Hi

I am with Salon Gold and am insured to do Microdermabrasions.

The policy costs 44GBP (sorry don't have pound key!)

Am pretty sure there are other company's that do insure you, if you have the training certificate from the product or manufacturer and NVQ 3 it doesn't get any clearer that you know what you are doing really does it? Is a bit strange that FHT don't.

HTH :)

I am with the Guild - they are very helpful

BABTAC cover microdermabrasion.
