Hi there,
Can you tell us what you mean by a "hang nail" and is it on a hand or a foot? Any possibility of seeing a picture, which would help me to advise you about this?
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the site :D

These sound like homework questions to me. Am I right?
If so then you need to research your text books and also your course notes, also ask your tutor if you're having difficulty researching. We don't do homework for students as it won't help at all if you aren't researching yourself, you won't learn anything by other people giving you the answers

Try these books, they're both excellent:
The Complete Nail Technician - Marian Newman
Nail Structure and product Chemistry - Doug Schoon

I was going over my course notes last night and the answer to both these questions were in my notes. They should be in yours too.

This is definitely a homework question and not what we do here on the site.

Google is a great tool.

google 'hang nail' and 'nail ridges' you will find allot of information.
