Hi everyone,

I'm just finishing up my level 2 at college, I'm 28 and a single mum. I was considering completing my level 3 at college but I'm now unable to due to the benefits changing to universal credit. My other options are apprenticeship for level 3, which is unlikely because I am more expensive than a 16 year old, trying to find work in a salon, they all ask for experience or going mobile.

Has anyone got any tips on being mobile, anywhere that sells good portable salon equipment etc?

Do you find it easier to take your own chair? Have you tried one of the portable sinks? When colouring do you take a selection or do a consultation first then go back another day?

Hi, I did mobile for years, it's difficult when doing colour, as I used to call see roughly what they were looking for, then buy 3/4 for choice. Some people only had walk in showers, and I'd need to manage to wash hair, I worked with whatever chair they had, bad move as some never had one lol. Regardless off all the little things that were a pain, I loved it,and it's a great way to start a clientele. Once you have enough people ,maybe you can rent a chair for a day or two in a salon, and build from there. Good luck x

Thank you! I'll have a look at maybe a foldable chair, and definitely the portable sink. Anything to make life easier!
