Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I'm hoping to one day go mobile (and tell my boss to take a run and jump).
But do you all think that offering more treatments i.e nails and beauty means that I could have more clients. Or is it best just to stick to nails?
Just would be great to get advice from people who have been there and done it and have experience in this area. :)

the more treatments you qualify in the more choice your clients hav in coming to you as opposed to someone else!

Plus if you do 2 or 3 treatments in one visit it makes your profitability so much better!

Offering more services is bound to bring you more money and as you do one service you can tell the client about the other things you do... for example... you could be doing nails and your client might decide that he/she would love a spray tan or an eyebrow wax or pedicure or whatever, whilst you're there!

Like CadenceAlex says, clients will see that you offer these other treatments and be interested to try them out. You can offer special introductory offers for existing nail clients.

Also, if you think about it, if you only offer nails - the maximum you can earn in one day = the maximum number of full sets of nails, where as when you are offering other treatments such as waxing, tans etc, you can increase your profitability as some of these treatments can only take 15 minutes but you can still make a very good profit from them.

Hope that makes sense!

Yep hun, what those lot said  :green:

But only do it if you enjoy other beauty treatments! If nails is your number one passion and you think you'd be happiest just doing nails, then specialising in one 'treatment' is no bad thing :green:

I use to do nails (extensions and manicures) for 5 years before I took the decision to do other treatments, whent to college and did the Beauty Specialist Diploma, and I've never looked back... you always get the client asking, ohhh do you do this or that, and bingo you've just got yourself another treatment added to there list everytime you go.

I thought it would be best to offer other treatments as my main aim it to offer as many treatments as possible. Just needed some advise as I have no one else I can talk to that understands why I'm hoping to change careers:)

You just have to build up your treatments as you go along, before you know it you'll have a list of them. I've just added to mine every few months, did Indian Head Massage in February, although I've not had many clients for it, it will pick up. Word of mouth too, that helps.

Hi there

After 20 odd years at the nail desk, totally absorbed in them ..No time for anything else I was content to play with all that has come along retail , techniques etc - OPI & CND my choices.
Spa pedi & Raw Earth actually inspired me to go back to college & take the treatments beyond the knee & elbow to cater to a complete wellbeing ritual,
I never felt the NEED to add treatments just got the WANT to pursue a little bit more & have followed on from there.Good luck with your choice's & enjoy.

I think you need to be completely confident in your nails before taking anything else on. I am do beauty therapy as well as nails, although nails are my specialty and account for 80-90% of my business. It depends on the clientele. Some peeps like the convenience of going to one person & having everything done & others like someone who specialises in each thing. Personally I enjoy the occassional break from the nail table, but nails will always be my number one focus.

This is so true. I had so many nail clients that there was no time (nor did I want) to add any other treatments. I marketed myself as the nail SPECIALIST and my clientele responded to that marketing because they did not want someone who did a bit of everything ... the wanted just that .. a specialist in the one field. But there are many other people who want someone who covers all the bases.

I myself prefer those who absolutely specialise in one particular thing. I have a brilliant masseuse who specialises in corporal treatments ... no way would she dream of waxing my legs!! and another person who specialises in what I call the 'small' treatments like waxing and eyebrows etc. This is what I prefer and there are many like me but there are also many who want it all. You will attract those that want what you offer provided you offer it well.

I also considered branching out in to beauty. I am mobile and thought it would be beneficial to offer lots of other services.
After careful consideration I decided that it would be better to offer a good qaulity nail service rather than an adequate mish mash of lots of other services.
My service menue is still growing because there is so much you can do with natural nails and enhancements.
Good luck
