Hi guys

Have been fiddling about this afternoon in setting up a web site for me on freewebs.

Please take a look and let me know what you think - honest feedback please - anything you would add or take off or change (i promise I will be a big girl and wont cry if it hurts)!

For some reason I have deleted the info that was on the "about me" page - it included things like my qualifications and details about me learning to do enhancements - let me know what you think about advertising on here for models while i am practicing - not sure if it is the right thing to do. Will put these details back on if you think it is a good idea.

not had much chance to check my prices yet so guidance on this woud also be appreciated.

I think it's well done.
I also think the advertising for models is a great idea because you should get a lot of opportunity to practice and as you get better, some may stick around and become long term clients....
It's giving me ideas for adding 'model prices' to my own site for when I want to try things out,and/or if/when I learn L&P :green:

Good job, but would like to see more pics in the gallery

thanks Victoria

Only just getting my nails to the point where I feel happy in taking pictures of them. hopefully willl now build more clients up to take more pictures!

hello, looks brill so far, only thing i picked up on was the price of the eyebrow tint. i personally think it should be cheaper than the eyelash tint as it uses hardly any products and doesnt take long to do xx

Have added about me details and tweeked some prices. I am also reviewing my facials to give a choice of options.

Are the £ signs showing as ? when you view the web site they look OK on one screen but different when I view from my edit screen???

Hi Oey, yes you do have quite alot of ? showing and some things seem to be out of line. Good luck with it, I'm not high tech enough to set up a website on my own, getting someone to do one for me at mo!!

Apart from a few things - like the ?s it is pretty easy to follow on the freeweb site

Have tried to correct the problem but still not right - any ideas anyone??

have logged a fault with freewebs and waiting for their reply.

I've just had a look at my freewebs website... when you're editing the pricelist page, click on the '£' icon on the toolbar, it's for entering special characters, there's a list of characters from pound signs, to dollars and euros plus a few more thrown in for good measure.

Thanks Sandi for your tips

Dont know why they changed as they were ok for half a day - i did cut and paste from word document so ended up having to delete and re-tyoe everything on the price list again - that was a ball ache I can tell you!

please let me know if you would change anything else guys!

i think your site is good. easy to follow and navigate through.

well done :)

Hi there, I think it is good but I'd get a domain name and pay for the upgraded service through freewebs. It's so easy to do. Here's my website that I've designed; www.beautytherapytoyou.co.uk

I'm also a mobile beauty therapist

Also - I think some of prices are too cheap; although I know areas differ. e.g facial, my minimum charge is £22. But then I live in Surrey I suppose.

With facials I think it's an idea to put down what product you use also.

I think you need to state: where you travel to and minimum charge. This will save confusion on the client's part.

On your about page there are some numbers at the bottom, 00072 - not sure if they are supposed to be there?

Anyway hope this helps xx

btw - if you press ctl and f5 it updates your pages. The online help is good you can get that on an evening. xx

I like your web page - it looks great. How much do you have to pay to buy your domain name?? Do you have to pay an annual fee as well and do you get more options by doing this - does this include any fees for listing on google etc.

I like you idea of having a different page for each of your treatment ranges - can put more detail about each one then.

The numbers at the bottom are counters - they show how many people have visited your web page.

will take your ideas on board about minimum charge and facial details etc. I will do some more research in the area about prices etc.

many thanks

Well done on the site it looks fab!!!! Can't wait to see more pics!!:)

Having your own domain name is a positive step forward towards having a professional looking website, however a word of caution here and I urge everyone who is considering (1) building a new website, or (2) using a domain name with a Freewebs site to read this very very carefully. Make sure that your site is not built using frames, or if you're getting a domain name with freewebs, make sure your site is not being forwarded using frames. I've been saying this for the past year or so and still people are falling into the trap. I wont go into the technical side of things, suffice to say that for the search engines, frames by and large are bad news. Why?

Here's a simple demonstration:
Tinkywinky has a freewebs site, and a very nice looking site it is too. The site is using forwarding so that she can use a domain name with her site. Unfortunately, this is being done using FRAMES. What's the result? Well, at the moment there is absolutely no information there for the search engines to find....nothing, not one single word. Proof of this can be seen by entering the website url into a search engine simulator. Here's what I got:

Spidered Text : NONE

Spidered Links : NONE

No spiderable links found.
Meta Keywords :
No meta kewords found.NOTHING
Meta Description :
No meta description found.NOTHING

What's the bottom line? Well lets say that someone is searching for 'nail and beauty specialist in camberly in surrey', I'm afraid that as it stands, Tinkywinkys site wont be appearing in any search results. Another potential client lost. The only way that guys can find and view that site is by telling them the web address directly.

In contrast, have a look at Christines Nail Cabin It too is a Freewebs site that has its own domain name, but when I enter her website addy into the simulator, look at the results:

A little bit of a difference, huh? Remember Frames are BAD NEWS! If you want to run this simple test yourself, or indeed test out your own website, you can find the search engine simulator at

It looks really good.

Is it possible to align the prices so that they are in the same column and also align the wording on thte prices page so that it does not go into the same column as the prices. It just makes the page look neater.

I agree with the suggestions about buying a domain name etc. www.oneandone.co.uk sell them at reasonable prices, they also have facility to build your own website really easily.

Worth taking a look!

Also, I'm not sure if it's professional to ask potential clients to 'text' you. JMO of course.

Well done though:lol:

Thanks for your comments Amanda

There was a recent thread on here about how you book your appointments. the concensus was that if you are mobile it may be a good plan for your clients to text you if they wanted to as this will save all your clients being disturbed with your mobile phone ringing during treatments and you can contact them back at a convenient time!

Still tweeking with the price page.

Website looks good but as someone else mentioned you should have different pages for different treatments.

I thought your half leg and full leg wax was very cheap compaired to the other waxing treatments - you should consider increasing this as a half leg wax is the same for an eyebrow wax and you would use more wax, strips and take more time.

I bought my domain through freewebs - it wasn't the cheapest to purchase the domain but seemed the easiest to get it transfered over. I think it cost £20 ish for the two years and no other fees for transfering it.
