My 11 year old son suffers from really bad seborrheic dermatitis on his scalp.

He has quite a few angry patches of it and it's caused him to lose some of his hair.

The GP has prescribed Capasal 2% shampoo which he's recommended using twice per week and inbetween Capasal use he has to use Oilatum shampoo to counteract the drying effect as his scalp is really dry. Now this is working slightly and it is losening the scales but I can't seem to comb it out properly and it just sits in his hair (am I explaining this properly?) The other issue is whilst it's coming out his scalp underneath looks so red and raw.

Have any hairdressers come across this and seen successful results at the end?? I just want his hair to grown back

Thanks, Lisa x

I have suffered with this for about 6 years, every lotion, potion, shampoo and treatment has failed, however, about a year ago I found an article in a newspaper which recommended Neem Oil, it's an Indian hair and scalp treatment.

For me it worked almost immediately, huge flakes combed out after the first wash without leaving sore patches where it was removed from.

I got mine from eBay, it was about £4 for 100ml and you use probably a teaspoonful each night. I rub it in at night and wash off in the shower next morning. I use the shampoo on dry hair then rinse method to wash it out.

ETA- it doesn't smell great, kind of spicy but no worse than coal tar LOL

Thats grt trinity, I will let my friend know about that neem oil
xx

Thanks Trinity, will definitely give the Neem oil a go. Anything is worth a try I guess, but I'll let you know how we get on with it. x
