hi everyone ive got a nail trainer and i started practicing but ive only got certain sized nail extension tips i tried to glue them on my nail trainer tips and they wouldnt stick!!!! do i have to have the nail trainer practice tips from EN or can i use any type?

Hi, I originally trained with EN (many moons ago).

From what I remember, the adhesive takes longer to set on the trainer nails than it would on a real nail. You also have to take care not to apply too much adhesive as this stops it sticking too.

As far as I know you don't need special tips. I know you only need certain sizes for the trainer and that's why it helps to get EN tips because they only supply the sizes you need (at least I think that's how it was when I did the course but it was YEARS ago!).

I haven't used NSI adhesive but some do set slower than others. Star Nails Instant sets really fast on people if that helps.

Best of luck with your course. I loved it and the people at EN are really helpful.

Hey hun, it's the glue that's an issue with the trainer. EN do a special glue for the nail trainer which dries quicker than normal glue, but i've tried different ones and found that Millenium & the edge glues are quite good on it. You can use any tip on the nails, but you obviously have to size them to fit correctly otherwise they'll ping off. HTH's:)

thanks hun i think its mainly because i only have a few sized nails which i got given by the lady i bought the nail trainer from as its second hand and none of them are what you call a good fit for the ones i want to do as it said start on size 13 of the nail trainer nails ill jus have to buy some from en the glue is quite good i managed to get some on my finger and get tissue stuck to it like a muppet that i am lol

You're not a real nail tech till you've glued yourself to something or someone!

Hi Hun

Hope your feelng better today

The no: 13 nail dubbed the easiest is a joke, it is so flat that it is nigh on impossible to get a tip to adhere to it properly. If you look on the progress card it tells you near the 10 on step 2 any nail shape can be used on this card, although I vaguely remember that in the manual it tells you to do the Essential Techniques progress card with no: 13 nail. I would ring up EN just to make sure rather than take my word for it. I know after lots of frustration I abandoned the No: 13 andused the no: 6 nail, I trimmed the free edge and filed into shape to fit the tip well.

Regarding the glue EN glue in my opinion is not the best adheisive I have used, it didnt set fast enough for me, I got bubbles all the time and the nozzle kept getting clogged up and I would have to trim the nozzle down to create a hole and in the end up I couldnt get the glue from the bottle and ended up throwing away 3/4 full bottles and its not cheap stuff to buy. I found personally I had better luck with NSI polybond. JMHO

happy practising
