I had a client in today whose enhancements I had removed previously 2 days ago. When she left they looked ok I shortened her natural nail after removal slightly and told her to keep rubbing solar oil in. The nails were soft but not bad looking. She came into today for a set of gel overlays but when I looked at her natural nails they had broken right down and were bleeding at the skin. We agreed to let them grow a little and heal before we put on the new enhancements. She was so nice and wants to follow my advice but I felt bad because I feel I've ruined her nails. I didn't over file or do them damage they just all broke with being soft with doing every day things. Should I have done different or should I give other advice after enhancements are removed?

Do you think she may have had a pick and nibble.

How long were her nails when she first came to you ? Although they will grow when protected by enhancements, they will be no stronger than they were and, lets face it, they have them enhanced for a reason.

After removal I always reduce the length considerably, advise them to use Solar oil liberally and the rest is up to them. I do not see you have done anything wrong. HTH
