Hi there,

I have posted a similar question, and thought I had been given the right answer, but alas not.

What it is, is the last time I applied well-less tips to my own nails and used my L&P as normal. After a day or two I began to see what looked like the tip lifting where the smile line was. Having asked your good selves what this could be, I was told that maybe I hadnt let the glue set and it was lifting.

That sounded like a reasonable answer and I went with that.

But when I removed the nails, it was actually my own natural nail that had lifted under the enhancement.

I filed all my nails back quite short, added some nail strengthener and got on with things.

I applied a form last night and sculpted my index finger, and it was looking good until this morning, it looks like the same thing is happening ....what am I doing that could be causing this??

I did pinch my nail, (not really sure if I had to do this or if I was doing this right - first real attempt at a sculpted nail), wondering now if thats the cause, and that maybe the well less tips from before were too curved for my own nail, which forced my own nail to lift perhaps???

nail bed separation can be caused by pressure...i wouldn't pinch the nails if i was you.

Keep them short...and they should in time re attach.

ok thankyou. :green:

Very surprised this was not covered in your training as it can be very common:irked:

Description - Seperation of nail plate from nail bed at the hyponichium.

Main causes - trauma to nail / overfiling / drilling / harsh cleaning behind free edge which causes the hyponichium to split / wearing nails too long / overexposure.

To correct - careful filing / keeping nail short / lots of solar oil especially behing free edge - it will take time, be patient.

HTH

excess primer running under the nail can cause this also

So can product shrinkage if product is applied to a thin, damaged nail plate ... which is what this sounds like to MOI! :green:

I think all of the above could well be the causes.....thankyou for your knowledge once again. Advice taken, treatment started. :green:
