Hi geeks

I'm setting up a business in June and have made a decision on every product from nails to tanning to facial products but can't decide what make up to use. I don't think I will be doing very many make up applications so don't want something overly expensive but equally want a good product that will stay all day if I'm doing wedding make up.

What do you guys use anything I should maybe stay away from eg brands that sell in drugstores? I currently use Virgin Vie where I work but not overly impressed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!
Diane

Hi
We use ArtDeco in our salon but I am thinking of getting another range Helen 'E' Costmetics I will let you know more when I recived the info

i use elf. really good a good value for money. the only problem is you can only order online and cant see the colours etc in person. i dont really like the mineral foundation or other foundations but everything else is great. go for mac if you have he money.

I've actually just started using mac make up on myself as was used on me during a photo shoot wasn't sure if they sold it trade though so a little cheaper. I was also looking at mineral but a little put off with the huge range of foundation colours and seems like there is a certain technique.

How did you choose what products to use from elf? Do you know if they have a starter kit and have you had good feedback from clients??

Many thanks

ELF products contain Bismuth Oxychloride an irritant to many.
If your looking for a mineral makeup look at Lily Lolo
If your looking for non mineral then MAC

Would it be very unprofessional of me to just buy products that I know I like myself and have found that works eg maxfactor, estee lauder clinique etc? It doesn't look like mac, lily lolo do kits with a few foundations, eye shadows etc.

I can't afford much at the moment so don't quite know what to do! :(

i got in new > id cosmetics 8months ago and love it , i organised a ladies night in the salon where we did make up demos and i got the rep to come out , it was great and i sell a load of the lipglosses
good luck with finding a make up range :D

no it wouldnt look unprofessional at all, pretty much every mua i know makes up her/his kit with tried and tested products from right across the board - from professional to high street
i personally use : mac, bobbi brown, chanel, benefit, dior, lancome, nars, laura mercier as well as bourjois, max factor, nyx and am considering investing in some key pieces from artdeco when i come back from mat leave;)

I used to use Virgin Vie too, but I couldn't use it on myself due to sensitive skin so this didn't fill me with confidence for my clients.

I now use Patricia Milton Cosmetics and have never had a problem. Of course, everyone supplements their kits with wonder products from other brands.

Thanks guys all your info has come in very handy given me lots to think about! Makes me feel better that its ok to use a mixture of brands aswell especially as I do on myself, thanks again
