Hi

I trained in bio sculpture about 2 years ago - started up mobile but then went back to my old career - lost my secretary job at xmas so decided this year to start up again. I have been doing the nails again for about a month. I practiced on family and friends first - and for the past month i have been doing gels to everyone on offer for half price - as i am newly qualfied.

i was really pleased as everyones nails have been staying on and clients have been coming back to me every 2 weeks to have the nails removed and a new set reapplied. I done a clients nails for the first time last friday. she has just emailed me to say ALL her nails have fell off!!

I asked her how many nails are off - she said all of them and that they fell off on sunday when she was drunk.

i feel really bad that her nails have come off and dont want to loose her as a potential client but i really dont feel as if it was my fault? everyone elses nails have been fine. and if any nails have come off - its maybe one or two nails - and i get the client back straight away to re-apply. i cant understand how they all just fell off.

Shall i offer to re-apply them again free??

I have explained to her that bio sculpture gel is not as strong as acrylic so needs to be taken care of and not picked at etc.

any help much appreciated!! x

What did you do for her? Overlay or extended? And if they were extended, what length/condition were her natural nails in the first place?

I done overlay.

I havent mastered doing extensions yet!! x

it sounds that way - i cant understand how 10 would come off! but i am not sure if to offer to do them again?

There are two options, and the second is far more likely.

1/ There are simply some, very few, but some people who can't wear Bio...usually for medical reasons. I have had one lady going through the menopause, who that happened to (she's now through it and wears them again no problem), and one who was using Methotrexate for arthritis....a pretty heavy duty medication. On both of these ladies all nails dropped off cleanly within a week, although they do so gradually, and not all conveniently all within the same couple of hours!

2/ She picked them off.....and was possibly too drunk remember! Or maybe she does remember and just doesn't want to admit it to you.

I'd check her health, and her nails for signs of nailbed damage where she's picked and pulled and I suspect you'll see it, and so I'd then offer her a small discount on another set, merely as a gesture of goodwill, (you won't need a full prep just a dry prep and clean up) and tell her you can see signs of forced removal, and not to do it again, as next time it'll be full price.

You should be able to tell if they were ripped off or fell off for sure. Nail plate will be a mess!!! :Scared:

And by the way.....experience shows me that clients who have a genuine problem tend to call and discuss, cleints who have pulled them off tend to either text or email ,cos they don't want to actually lie to you!!

HI

Hmm did they maybe float off on their own then?

If you wipe her nails with scrub fresh or another temporary dehydrators it will show up the damage she has done by picking the gel off. (if there is no damage visible then maybe she is one of the minority that cant wear bio but i very much doubt it)

Some people take advantage were they can!

just got to the bottom of it - she picked them off when she was drunk!!

At least i know it is not me!!!

Thanks for all your advice x

Think this thread just goes to show you can't trust what clients tell you at all.

This is especially important for newbies to bear in mind who may be doubting their ability due to naughty clients.

We all know how hard it is to gain confidence in your work and before offering any sort of refund or offer you need to see the problem x
