:?: I've just been reading through old threads about e files v hand files and saw this mentioned .I've done the e file course but still feel nervous about cutting in new smile lines, is this nip the tip another way to do the backfill part of the rebalance. Thanks if anyone knows x

Not sure what you mean by "nip the tip". Have not heard of that technique.

no i hadn't did a search after seeing it got tips, nipping cuticles etc. It was to remove the old tip ie free edge using nail clippers and then re-do using a form but i could have completely got this wrong. x

Oh, okay! I call that "re-tipping" and do that for people who don't like to see their natural nails grown out underneath. But no, it does not help if you are having issues with the smile line because you still have to cut it out. I'm going to give you a link to an article that helped me immensely with my smile lines, but want to add that you may want to use a makeup pencil to draw the line on first until you are comfortable with just "eyeing" it.

I hope this helps you, good luck!

Ah ha that looks much easier will practice that tonight and the pencil line is a great idea x How do you do the re tipping can you change from say a glitter to something else this way x

I think it is much harder-you have to nip the tip as close to the fingertip as you can, still carve the smile line, then resculpt the entire tip. I have found that if you sculpt out the free edge in clear and just put the color (white, glitter, color) on top of that, then the method in tut is the easiest way to change color with no shadowing or resculpting involved.

ok thank you its lovely to have help from so far away as well lol x

Glad to be of any help I can! Isn't the net wonderful?
