Hi everyone,

I did my first l&p NNO on Friday, they seemed fine at the time and the client was happy.

She text me this morning to say 3 have cracked badly and another one is on it's way. Anyone got any ideas why?

I have done tip any overlay on her nails 5/6 times and they have been fine. Her nails have grown nicely so she opted for NNO instead. I soaked off the old set, preped, applied NSI l&p, capped the free edges and finished with glaze 'n' go.

Any help would be great!

i think there is a temptation when doing nno to not build the apex.
just because the tip on the nail is a natural one and not a plastic one doent mean that they dont need reinforcing as usual.

thinking back, would you say that the apex was adequate? that is usually the reason for cracking.

Thanks angel fingers but yes I definitely built an apex. Any other ideas?

she's been laying a patio? lol

Is it the nails that have cracked, or the top coat??

Just a thought, but maybe you 'finished' the nails too well and the glaze n go has cracked because the surface wasn't rough enough for it to adhere to - like if you put it over shiney new polish, it'll just crack!

If it's the nails themselves, I have to agree with angelfingers, they're probably just not strong enough.

I haven't seen them yet, hoping to take a look tomorrow. I finished with a 180 grit file before applying glaze 'n' go. 180 is ok isn't it, or should I use 100 grit?

If the nails have cracked as opposed to just the top coat, would the lack of strength just be an insufficient apex or is there any other reason?

Ok, now I have a bigger problem, she just text back saying most of them are crumbling  What did I do wrong?:cry:
