Hello!

I want to get a qualification as a nail technician and work in this industry. I dont have any previous experience and i am 30 years old( Hope not too old for this?). All my life i worked as an accountant, but ow i want to change my career. All employers ask NVQ2 or NVQ3 qualification, but it takes 1 year in college to achieve just one level 2 or 3. I would like to get a qualification as soon as possible, to be qualifated for employers. Please give me advice where should i start: do NVQ in college or do courses in CND academy? Maybe such short courses in CND are not enough to get knowledge to be apealed for employers? I am sorry if my writting is messy, i a foreigner and it is not very easy ro write in english.
P.S. I live in Leeds.
Thank you.

Hi Anaska,

Welcome to the site, and to the industry :) You are most definately NOT too old! So you can wipe that worry from your mind .
In the nail industry, college education is not superior to private education through a product supplier. I would say that you would get a better education and learn more industry relevent things doing a course from CND or another reputable company.
Just remember that you will need to do a lot of practice during and after the course, and although the CND courses are short, you will have a lot of support and can do further training as you go.

I hope this helps you xx

A lot of employers prefer to see that you've been cnd trained and I didn't start in this industry until I was 42 and I'm not the oldest on here.
After you have trained with cnd you can have an nvq assessment. This is where someone comes to your place of work and checks that you can do all the things that are covered in an nvq course and if you can you are awarded the certificute.
Hope this helps you

Thank you very much for your answers, now i am more confident and choose CND!:Grope:.

CND is the better option hunny,
the level of education is better than NVQ and employers prefer nail techs that are CND trained,

as for your age that will work in your favour not against you,
and the CND training is in Leeds too so a winner all round,
good luck hun and enjoy the training

This is good advice, I never knew about private traaining till I came onto this site, but dont regret the nvq route either, and no you're not too old, I started college at 40 x

Oh, thank you very much everybody for your responce!. Now i am definately sure i will train in CND!.
Thank you for encourage me that i am not too old). Can i ask? At the age of 40 or 42 do employers take you to work?

Yes love most employers prefer staff not to be in their teens, much less problems with a mature adult,
relax and enjoy the education adventure then worry about getting a job,
when you are applying for jobs almost every one will want you to attend and do a trade test (set of nails) so get plenty of practise in and build up your confidence this will take you far, hth
