Outside school gates

hey everyone,

I've been addicted to salon geeks for a couple of months now and i have found all the information i need. This is my first post today as i need alittle help. Can you stand outside school gates and give out leaflets to promote your business ?? It would be at the end of the day.

I have just started out as a mobile beauty therapist and really need other ways to advertise. I have spoken to someone i no that has also just started her own business but she doesn't live by me, she has advertised outside school gates before and she said it has helped her gain more clients. instead of standing outstide school gates why not put a flyer on each car parked near the school? it might be a bit more discreet for you?

I see what you mean about it being more discreet, but I dunno about flyering cars to be honest...some people are VERY tetchy about that- that and the grey area of if its actually being illegal or not! (it is actually illegal on public land).

But I think you're entitled to stand there and hand some flyers out! ....then again, Im stressed as hell when im doing the school run!

Thanks for the reply both of you. I also work at a school in a morning and used to full time so home time is usually very busy and people are rushing off. I think i may ask the schools and see what the head teacher thinks ?? what other ways do you think i could advertise instead... i'm not sure how to appoach businesses, schools, nurserys by email ?

I take my boys to school and wear my running stuff once or twice a week. Along with a tee-shirt that has my business name on the back, telephone number and Beauty Therapy. Its amazin how many people stop me or ask me for details and I always make sure I stop and talk to them and give them the information they have requested.

What about offering to do a somthing for free for a school in return the had out the leaflets for you. I am only training just done manicure so far), i have a child at primary school, i have offered a manicure as a raffel prize in a summer fair, in return they hand out some leaflets to the children, for them to give to pearents.
