Hi, I've just done my manicure training and busy practising, bio sculpture is booked for Jan. I'm looking for advice as a friend is holding a 'Treatz' afternoon and eve at a local village hall and has asked me to do manicures. I haven't got my certificate yet though as still doing my case studies paperwork and therefore no insurance. I was wondering if I could offer just a reshape and varnish for a charitable donation as it would be brilliant experience for me. Worried about the fact that I'm still training though and don't have insurance.
Any advice would be greatfully received. Thank you.

I think you can get student insurance (?) Give The Guild a call or maybe Louisa will see this and be able to answer

Hiya You need Insurance the Guild do Student Insurance, better to be safe than sorry you know what's its like theses day's for people suing.
Have fun and enjoy it.:)

Thank you, I'll phone first thing Mon and get it sorted, any idea how much it'll be? Also do you think just offering a 15 minute mini mani is ok?
I would do quick shape, base coat, varnish, top coat, neaten up and cuticle oil? Should I perhaps offer a massage option? Sorry 20 questions!!

if i was you id get the insurance first before doing any clients, if you make a mistake then your be covered, its better to be safe not sorry , and for piece of mind hun.hthxxx

Hiya just go on the Guild website and fill the form in and the price is shown you can sort it out and pay there and then, you have to send in details of your training ect but it is sorted quickly you will be insured once your payment is excepted but it really isn't worth doing anything without Insurance :)

I've done loads of these since being qualified, for my kids schools etc. I usually find that doing 15min mini mani's only consists of file and polish, everything else takes too long. Im pretty quick and very tidy when polishing but its still a push to get everything done in time.

Remember you've got to get the client to choose a colour, that can take ages. Also before you shape they have to tell you what shape they actually want - more decisions.

You cant afford to stop and chat to the client either, I love a good chat but you have to make sure you work and talk at the same time.

Its great practice and helps get your speed up, although really exhausting. Get some student insurance and good luck.

Karaxxx

Thank you for all the advice, I've got the Guild student insurance sorted now so just a bit more practising on my patient husband, one hand on his beer and the other being polished all sorts of colours!!
