15 mins?? prob just a shape and polish in that time, or cuiticles shape and buff.

I'd offer a mini manicure, so basically a shape and polish which is easily achieveable within a 15 minute time-frame.

TBH, if I was invited to a pamper evening where the opportunity of a manicure was available, I would expect my nails to be varnished.

Why do you want to leave the polish out Debbie?

Its just from the clients point of view Im looking at as the l varnish takes at least a couple of hours to dry properly, Id rather just do the buffed nail like Tonliee suggested, but if they want the varnish then I wont argue.:)

If they are getting a manicure of any sort, I'd say at least 90% will be upset if polish isn't offered. I know I would be! Be prepared to do it, and for those that don't want polish, offer a shape and cuticle prep, plus a hand massage. That way everyone is happy!

I've often done 15 minute "mini manicures" at local school events and fundraisers - there is always a queue and it's very popular. I've done nails in gymnasiums, classrooms, school fields, shopping malls... they all want polish. I can do a french with an additional 5 minutes, and this is very popular as people usually can't do a nice french job on themselves.

But there's lots of ways to help polish dry faster! Use a fast dry top coat. Get some Rapi-Dry spray (OPI) or one of the quick-dry drops that are on the market (these are a great thing to have in your kit anyway, so don't feel like you have to buy it just for the party). Because these ladies are at a pamper party, once you are done with them, they will have a chance to sit down with a glass of wine, and are much less likely to wreck their polish than if they have to go function in the "real world" (going back to work, chasing children, getting into their car, etc).

This is what I normally do:

- quick shape (work very fast for this part!)
- base coat
- 2 thin coats of polish - because you are working faster, you don't want them to be too thick or they will bubble
- top coat (use a quick dry one)
- I do a quick tidy of any messy edges with a bit of polish remover on a cotton bud
- spray of OPI Rapid Dry
- off they go!!

If you are feeling really time pressured, you could drop the base coat, but I still think it's needed to protect the nail and you are still putting your name and your work out there - you don't want to offer a crummy service and have people think that you don't do a thorough job. And they will be realists as well for the most part - they know that you only have 15 minutes so it's not like it can be the exact same service as one of your luxury manicures.

******* Oh, also - I just remembered.... BIG TIME SAVING TIP! ******

Make sure that their existing polish is off before they sit down with you! If you have an assistant, get them to take it off first, or if you have to, leave the bottle of remover and some cotton wipes out and ask people to please remove their own while they wait for you.

I remember one lady coming to me for a mini-manicure (she wanted a french), but her cheap Rimmel varnish took a good ten minutes to get off!

I have a young girl who sometimes helps me with these events (she's my babysitter, but she loves nails and would like to train when she's older) - she's very helpful when there is a LOT of people and there's a real time pressure. She organises the ladies (puts names on the queue list, helps answer questions, etc), fetches me things, and helps take off polish. She also handles payments, which gives me precious minutes to work. Do you have anyone that can give you a hand?

Hi, as the others have already recommended lots on the manicure...I am curious as to why you only get 15 minutes? Is this due to time limitation or the number of people? You might want to think about taking someone else who can do a different treatment than you so that you can both work at the same time, ie you do someones nails and your friend could do some other beautytreatment on someone else at the party so that there is more going on at the same time and the people going to the pamper party get more offered - you could maybe link in with a hairdresser, or spraytan technician or a beauty therapist to do facials? This way you could make the pamper party more expensive for the client/host but they would also get a lot more out of it? just a thought and it might take off......

When i offered mini mans at pamper parties (or mini peds) i used to ....

Push cuticle back

Shape/file nail

Quick buff

Base coat

polish

Quick dry topcoat

Occasionaly it did go into 20 mins but i found you can grab them minutes back when doing a mini ped.

I understand where your coming from with regards to not running over and offering or not offering polish.
15 mins does go quickly but keep your head down and work while talking and only occasionaly look up so your client knows they have your attention.
If they see you working they wont feel put out by this.

Hope all goes smoothly for you hun and remember DONT panick!

I'd agree that most people would expect polish. I'd say offer them the choice of either file & polish or file, cuticles and buff.

I also agree that you should ask them to remove polish before starting if possible as I've had problems with removing polish before now. I had one lady in just before christmas with about 5 layers of glitter polish on. Took me nearly 15 minutes just to remove the polish when it should have been a quick file & polish.

So Debbie - how did it go???

Aw bless thanx for asking,it was good , I done a file a polish, everybody was so nice, some of them took my buisness card away with them, one lady was really chuffed I done mobile pedicures asked if she could take one of my cards, unfortunatly as I was applying the varnish it was going all takky, so I removed it and done them again in another colour,so was running quarter of an hour late. The last lady didnt show up, so worked out well, the other therapists there were really nice , so now looking forward to the next one.xxxx

Glad to hear all went well for you Debbie xx

I have struggled to find things to do for large numbers in a short time, and wondered about the things to offer, mini manicures seems like a good idea along with the usual polish tidy, maybe i will sort out a various selection of treatments

Thanks for the tips its, i know not for me but helpfull :)

Dear all, haven't been on this site for some time. Just love it and so helpful.

Well, this is my tip for keeping varnish on for ages!!!

Used scrub fresh before applying basecoat and the varnish stayed on with 2 nails also having designs and glitter discs for one week as first day! .During the week had done six hours hard house work too with gloves on .

Happy varnishing to you all:green:

A bit dippy with trying to find out how to place a new thread so hope this will be useful to some of you.

Regards Sylvie
