I have a paypal account and have purchased things using paypal frequently.

so, thought it would be cool to offer this as a form of payment for my courses. someone has paid me a deposit and its registered that it is in my account, but because I haven't gone through the verification process its sitting there.

when I go through the drop down box it shows my debit card details but its my expired card not my new card, so I haven't proceeded with it.

My question is, will it still go into my account using the expired card details, its the same account just with new expiry date but the long number on the card has changed slightly too.:|

I think when someone pays you some money, it goes into your paypal account and sits there until you physically tansfer it into your own bank account. Think it's 'withdraw funds' or something like that and then it will show a couple of digits of your bank account number to confirm it's going to the right place.

Paypal charge to withdraw funds from your paypal account into your bank account but I think it's free for amounts over £50.

Your card details being old ones shouldn't make a difference to this, think that's only if you go to buy something and it tries to draw funds against it. :)

I've emailed them to confirm. I registered with my card a few years back but didn't proceed with the verification process then forgot about it all.

Its only when I bought something from a private seller a month ago and she sent me a paypal request that I thought about doing it for my courses.

When Ive clicked to withdraw the money the drop down box has my old card details in, which has now expired.

I don't want to click something and it go into cyberspace. I'm sure it will come through OK at its the same account and everything just an updated card, but will wait for confirmation which could take a couple of days. I've held off using it again until this has been sorted.

I can buy things with this paypal, so I'm assuming and hoping that the details just carry over.

They definitely carry over to receiving payments as well as sending payments because I've used it for this loads. When I withdraw from my account, it just brings up my actual bank account details to transfer to and not my card number. Strange... might have to pop onto paypal and have a look.

They are really helpful over the phone though too, so if you have any problems just get in touch with them.

edit: just checked on mine and when I click on withdraw, the dropdown says 'transfer to bank account' then if I choose that option the next screen has a dropdown that gives my bank account details as an option. If it's not there then there's a link beneath that says 'add bank account' you can add your bank account details through here.

Maybe give them a call if you're struggling but your money should just sit in paypal until you either spend it by paying by paypal or transfer it out into your account. hth xx
