Hi I usually do my stuff myself but I am stuck in completing these papers for the case study prior to the exam. I have only done two day course and didnn't cover any of this stuff. I am fine with most of it just one thing is not mention anywhere, I have no worbook for it, nvq book doesn't have, the little info they sent me doesn't either.
It is one part of the questions:
Support security procedures
a) why is it important to consider security issues in a place of work both when it is open for business and when it's closed?
b) which three of the following pieces of legislation is involved?
data protection, coshh, employers liability insurance, health and safety
c) what measures would you take at work to ensure the safety and security of the people on the premises, personall belongings, stock, equipment, takings, records?
d) give 3 examples of possible breaches of security

The biggest problem I have is the first two and I am not sure what exactly they expect, as I've done some other exams before and the questions appeared tricky and not what I thought of :(
I really don't have anything on security anywhere in my papers and don't even know why I need it :/
Pease help

Please don't think me rude, but I would have thought you would be able to answer those questions without a text book. They are 'common sense' type questions really.

I'm a little surprised that you don't think security is important.

Have you asked your training provider for support?

Sorry hun but we do not do homework/assessments on this site

Imagine yourself as a salon owner reading the questions and try to answer them,

if you worked at a salon would you leave your bag on the floor some where for someone to just walk off with it,

what security measures would you have in place if you were an owner, hth

Nice answer Louise.

JUst think through the various things as Louise suggests. One of the most important is client privacy. When you fill out client record cards, you will be holding sensitive information regarding your clients ... how will you protect their privacy?

COSHH is to do with the safe handling of products you use. Google it.

I think most other things are common sense if you think about them.

Thanks for all the replies, I do think that security is important, please don't think me stupid. The thing is that which three legal pieces are involved in security is confusing me, as I think all four are. Following this I am assuming they understand the meaning of security in this test different than me. I am a foreigner and even though I do speak English I have probably slightly different understanding of things as well as different law regulations back home, so that can get me confused. Not saying that questions like the first one are obvious enough that I can't understand what they expect me to write as everyone everywhere want everything to be safe and secure, so that question doesn't make sense for me as a knowledge test.
I am sorry if you guys got offended by my post.
All the best
J.

I don't think anyone's offended hun. It might have been better though if you had given us a bit more detail in your first post as to the exact problem you were having rather than just posting your question.

I can see how all 4 could be argued as being relevant when the salon is both closed and open, however one is more specifically relevant when the salon is open. Have another think about it.

Joy xx
